Just wanted to post something a bit more positive than I usually do 😂 I had my rescheduled laparoscopy yesterday afternoon and they found endometriosis! I finally know what's been causing all my horrible symptoms. What a relief and a validating experience.
I was diagnosed with adenomyosis, bladder endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I'm so thankful I can move forward with my health journey now. Plus, this is also sort of an "in your face" moment to those consultants that told me it was all in my head!

I'm delighted you have finally had your surgery. It's such a long wait. As you say, you can now move forward as you know exactly what you are dealing with now. Take care
So important for you that you now have the answers you have needed for so long. Hopefully now you will feel empowered to take back some of your control to make decisions about how to move forward and what is best for you with your doctors. Also remember that if you are seeing a consultant who you don’t think is listening or the right fit for you in the future you have every right to request a second opinion and see someone else. I’ve refused to be seen again by a couple in my long journey. Sometimes it can be just finding the right personality fit and bedside manner with your doctors not anything to do with their skills. One consultant who I didn’t feel right with was an old work colleague of mine first choice as his approach suited her personality but not mine.
Take care of yourself and all the best for your journey ahead.
Hi happy you have answers at long last. I was 75 when my journey began and was not until more than a year later l had my first surgery, this after me having post menopause haemorrhage bleeds of up to 1/8 pint per toilet visit.
But after being transferred to a different consultant due to my first one almost dismissing me as being unable to cope with my symptoms, l had not had a period for 20 years !!!!!
But now under cancer care which is as has been proved the reason l was bleeding. I wish you a better journey on your return to health, please make your point that you are not an hysterical woman if they do not listen.
Thank you so much Alexa! I'm sorry your journey was not pleasant either but I hope things go well under your new clinic. It was definitely not normal that you were bleeding 20 years post menopause!! What a joke!
It boils my blood when doctors try to be dismissive and claim it's our mental health or normal period function. You're right, we are not hysterical woman and we know ourselves/ our bodies. We're telling the truth so we need to keep fighting to be heard because we deserve treatment 🌷 good luck with everything x
this is amazing to hear so happy you’ve got your diagnosis!!! It has definitely given me faith, you really start to listen to the gas lighting and doubting yourself xx
Thank you so much! You're so right, it's insane that doctors can make us doubt our own realities. It just shows you that we know our own bodies and should definitely keep pushing for treatment xx
