I had my 2nd diagnostic laporoscopy on Friday with a Endometriosis BSGE surgeon...finally diagnosed.
I have extensive endometriosis in my POD, bowel and bladder wall plus behind my overies.
It was missed 2.5 years ago with a general gynaecologist, I kept telling her my symptoms, she put it down to IBS, then discharged me from her care. It wasn’t until I was hospitalised 6 weeks about at another NHS trust hospital that it was looked into again and booked in for a laporoscopy!
I have known for years since being 12 years old that my periods weren’t ‘normal’. I’m now 29 and I just feel relieved that I have answers.

Thankyou. I need to go back for another operation for the endo to be removed. I don’t know what after that Hun. I’ve gone back onto the progesterone pill, after being advised to go on the copper coil by my other consultant(the one that missed it) xxx
I teach secondary. I had a lap 2.5 yrs ago mid November and went back in Jan. I had endo, adhesions, one ovary and tube removed. I worked right up to surgery taking lots of painkillers. It was hard going back in Jan, I think it was Easter before I was back to full strength.
Hey Pandora Penguin 😊 did you know you were going to have the ovary/tube removed? Or did you have to go in twice-ie diagnostic first? I am at the hospital tomorrow, not sure what the consultant will say, but last time he did say it would have to be a laparoscopy if the mirena didn’t fix things. I’m hoping that they can do everything in one fell swoop so I don’t have to have too much time off, my kids have mental health problems and don’t deal well with change-don’t want to be the cause of them being knocked off course with their GCSE. X
They knew I had pelvic congestion on my left so I knew the ovary and tube were going. I was told that if it didn't fix things it would probably be hysterectomy. I had 2 good years, a few months of intermittent problems and not starting up with constant pain so I think it may be the lot gone this time. Sadly, I had issues with lots of pills so have had lots of periods. Now settled on one that works for me and doesn't cause acne, mood swings or bloating!
If you have health issues tell the school as they can apply for Special Circumstances with the exam board so your kids may get a bit more credit for exams sat this summer.
This gives me hope as my lap in March was supposedly clear. I'm suffering still so much, I'm constantly needing to wee and I have rectal bleeding both when on my period. Currently waiting for a second opinion. Thank you for sharing x
This gives me hope too! My lap in December under general gynae came back clear but my symptoms keep getting worse, I am now awaiting a second diagnostic lap with an endo specialist in a bsge centre! x
