Hello everyone! Can anybody who’s ever been pregnant with endometriosis please tell me your experiences in early pregnancy? I’m 5 weeks + 2 and have been experiencing the following; cramps in uterus (quite intense period cramps that worsen after going to the toilet), insomnia (I’m running on next to no sleep for the past 3 nights but strangely don’t feel tired), breast tenderness, frequent urination and loose stools.
It’s worth mentioning that I’m quite run down at the minute - 111 have prescribed a penicillin based antibiotic for strep throat this weekend so that could be contributing to some of my symptoms perhaps?
I’m due to ring my doctor tomorrow (on Monday) to alert them of my pregnancy. When will I expect to have my first midwife and/ or scan appointment? I want to know so desperately that baby is in the correct place so I can stop worrying as much!
Any advice would be massively appreciated! Thanks in advance,
Lucy.

Hey, congratulations! Regardless of endometriosis a new pregnancy is terrifying but all your symptoms sounds completely normal. Your uterus begins stretching immediately which can cause cramps, if these start to form a pattern and are accompanied by bleeding then you are best contacting your local early pregnancy unit (usually based at a hospital). This will also cause frequent urination.
In terms of appointments you usually have a quick 5min appointment to confirm pregnancy, then your booking appointment at 8-10 weeks where they take family history etc. You'll then get booked in for your dating scan around 12 weeks.
Sadly you only get offered 2 scans on the nhs in a healthy pregnancy, but you can self fund reassurance scan (6 weeks) and early gender scans etc. I did this as had a miscarriage the first time round and it helped settled my nerves.
Please pm if you have any more vquestions. I have worked in the antenatal field as well as having a a child of my own. Your fears are completely normal but my best advice is to breathe, not Google too much and take each day at a time x
congratulations! I’m just over 17 weeks at the moment and had (and still have) cramping that they think is endometriosis related. It does ease off, but it can be scary, particularly in those first few weeks! If you can book an early reassurance scan to check it’s in the right place, that might help. But if you don’t have any bleeding, then you’re probably ok (although always worth getting an appointment or going to A&E if you’re really worried).
