Hi I have just been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. I have been having bad pain and bleeding for 3 years now and saw a gynaecologist who said it was because of a cyst. 3 years later and I saw a different consultant who sent me for an mri scan which showed that I have severe endometriosis and Adenomyosis, it is everywhere.. I don’t know what to make of it all and because it’s so bad they have instantly started me on prostap injection which brings on a temporary menopause, this is supposed to reduce the symptoms and stop the tissue growing. It’s all happening so fast and it’s so much to take in.. I’m nervous about how I’m going to manage the menopause symptoms and then in 4 months I will be having a full hysterectomy. Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and it’s happened this quick? I just want some advice or anything really.

Endometriosis and Adenomyosis
Hi lovely, I’m sorry you are feeling overwhelmed with all the news. The good thing is that you are being treatment and not fobbed off so things should improve now.
I also have endo and adeno and currently waiting for my 3rd surgery, which will be a full hysterectomy. My diagnosis took some good years to come but once it did things started to make so much sense and I hope you will get some clarity specially with the help of the ladies in this forum that taught me so so much!
I’ve been on Prostap since august last year and can say my symptoms improved a lot. I was afraid of all the menopause symptoms but I’m on HRT so dealing with the menopause is way easier than dealing with my endo symptoms. I have just had my latest MRI results done in April and it was the first time in 3 years that I had good news. A lot of my lesions shrank and a cyst that was compressing my kidney risking its function is completely gone. Now, the Prostap is not a treatment or a cure. I believe it is vastly used as a coping mechanism for the amount of time we have to remain in the waiting list for the surgery. I still have deep infiltrated endo everywhere, but the Prostap stopped the progress of the disease and for me it was worth it!
Read as much as you can so you can make an informed decision and if you don’t feel safe with this option, talk to your consultant about different alternatives! Hope you get sorted soon xxx
