endometrioma

Hi all,

I have recently been diagnosed with an Endometrioma in my left ovary & endometriosis. This has been a hard diagnosis to hear, given the side effects.

I am 25 years old, without children, but I plan to have them with my partner in about 5 years. I am in severe pain during my period & often left hospitalised & on morphine. I cannot lay on my stomach or sit properly for the week following my period. Are there any foods / drinks people can recommend to support with this ? Or any to avoid which could spur the development of endometriosis / endometrioma ?

Having read up on an endometrioma online, I’m very worried and concerned about the fertility impacts it may have… what is the best course of action ?

my doctor is suggesting the progesterone only pill or the Milena coil. Did either of these work for anyone else ?

would anyone recommend surgery to remove the endometrioma or stop the spread ?

many suggestions / info on endometrioma & endometriosis would be helpful & appreciated :)

Hi Rae248, I am now 48 but at about your age I was diagnosed with endo through laparoscopy. They found an endometrioma and removed it, I then went on to have prostrap injections for 6months. I am telling you this because I went on and had two children. I didn’t wait though despite always believing I’d have children later on. The endo never went away and I’ve had 8 ops in total but I was lucky enough to have my children without IVF. I would suggest you make sure you see an endo specialist and not just a gynaecologist to give yourself the best chance if you know that you’d like children one day. Good luck!

I used to get a lot of pain with my endo but found that changing my diet to more of an anti-inflammatory diet was one of the things that really made a difference to my symptoms. I added in a lot more anti-inflammatory foods like fruits and veg. For me taking out wheat, sugar, caffeine and alcohol really reduced pain, but we are all different in terms of what we react to so worth experimenting.
