consultation post diagnosis and accessing more care

SupportI have a consultation with my local NHS Endo specialist this week. I was diagnosed in March 2021 following laparoscopy which should’ve been with this specialist but instead was changed on the day to a general gynae (no idea why) who only used ablation and also caused nerve damage to my urethra. I’ve not seen the endo clinic since receiving my diagnosis as have been on the waiting list this whole time. They suggested medical menopause before but I’m adamant not to do that. We want to try for a family in the not too distant future and so it doesn’t seem sensible, I’m also trying to cut down other medications slowly also with TTC in mind so don’t want to add something new. I really want to be accepted for the specialist pain clinic and be added to the waiting list for specialist surgery again but I’m worried this’ll be a fight to get. Does anyone have experience in the nhs trying to get care post diagnosis and in getting second lap or pain clinic support?

it depends on level of severity or where endo was found but if that meets criteria for referral to specialist centre then I’ve found that was fine on nhs and follow up treatment was excellent. My gp didn’t refer me correctly to start with but once done to centre directly it worked fine for me. For me I only got referred to pain pain clinic once I had diagnosis and was under bsge endo clinic they referred me as soon as I asked

that’s so helpful thank you! I’m pretty confident it’s specifically the endo clinic I’m finally seeing (same with part of delay being gp not referring correctly). Everything crossed!
