Hi, so a bit of back story, I have been on the mini pill since I was 12 (I'm no 20) I am limited to which contraception's I can be on due to blood clots in my family. I went on the pill to help with pain, this worked until I was around 17. The pain got worse, I was throwing up and missing work due to it. During lockdown, I bled continually for 9 months, after this I went to the doctors and they referred me to a gynaecologist. Eventually I had a diagnostic laparoscopy revealing I have endometriosis. I was told to get the injection to stop the bleeding, that was in July and I have bled since. After multiple doctors trying to give me different pills to stop the bleeding nothing has worked. My last call to my GP, she tried to force the coil on me which I don't want until I know why I am still bleeding. She made me go back to my gynaecologist, who was very very dismissive and abit rude about the fact I wasn't jumping at the idea of the coil. He has said they can't do anything but fit the coil and was very dismissive about the fact I have bled for so long and am in bed most of the time due to pain. I am thinking about getting a private consultation with an endometriosis specialist to see what they recommend. Does anyone have any ideas that I can try?

hi, I had the same problem I bled for a year and a half continuously and no matter what medication I took (tranexamic acid) the bleeding wouldn’t stop. Ended up having iron infusions because my iron was so low. I had 2 endometrial ablations which has stopped the heavy bleeding through my clothes.

I was also on decepeptyl injection however that was horrendous for me, this won’t be the case for everyone though. It gave me very dark moods and weight gain.

I believe they won’t do endometrial ablation if you want to have children though.

I had a private consultation with a specialist in gynaecology and this cost me £200, you can either the pay private for any operations or scans or go onto the waiting lists for the NHS. A good too for when you speak to the doctor is ask them what list they are putting you on, such as the urgent list or category 1 etc …. As this gives you an idea of how long you will wait for further investigations.

Hope that helps a little ……

X

I had the same, I’ve stopped taking the pill now and my bleeding is regular again. I still have pain and my periods are heavy but I couldn’t stand the bleeding any more and I was in pain regardless of whether I was on the pill or not!

They could try you on a double dose of the progesterone only pill. The pop can cause bleeding if the dose is too low. I was like this went back to my gynae doubled the dose 2 pills a day no bleeding at all now for two years. But you do need to see a good gynae because the pill just masks the endo and doesn't do anything to treat it. Get an app with a good endo specialist gynae and a proper scan (MRI or TVultra sound) you can look up a gynae on line but realy check they specialise in treating endo. Incredibly lot sof gynaes don't know much about endo !!! This is the same for a lot of GPs but if you get a good gynae they will explain everything to your GP. I'm sorry you have had to suffer this, the coil can be helpful for endo but not if you have a tilted womb which is very common in women with endo. But you can take the progesterone in pill form instead.

Don't give up and keep pushing for proper treatment.Good luck. xxx

Thanks for your advice guys! I am happy to listen to the idea of the pill once they have explained why I am still bleeding and where's it coming from. I have been on 0 contraception since my injection last July and its not stopped at all. During the last 3 years I have bled for 75% of it but continually. Just feel like he was very dismissive instead of trying to answer my worries. Im going to look into some endo specialists and try to get an appointment.
