Possible endometrioma seen during fertility scans. How to address / diagnose? Input really welcomed

Hi - I am new on this group and wondered if anyone can share knowledge / input.

I have been through a few IVF cycles over the course of 2 years (no live birth yet). Sorry for long-ish post.

I have been scanned by several different gynacologists / fertility consultants during my clinic visits. Sometimes they see what appears to be a small endometrioma on one ovary. Approx 12mm. And other times they don't see it.

All the doctors I've spoken to - 4 or 5 doctors in total across two fertility clinics - have said not to have a laparoscopy. They say its teeny and not worth removing because it is on my ovary and will strip my low AMH back even further.

They have strongly advised me to have no surgery.

I, however, am worried the endometrioma is only the tip of the iceberg.

I was curious as to what others think about this. Also what others have been advised when it comes to fertility / low egg reserve and laparoscopy.

I feel like I am unsure what to do and perhaps I need input from a proper endo specialist.

I don't feel I have enough knowledge to understand my options. Or whether there are other tests to assess what's going on.

Would appreciate any recommendations on this.

Thanks all for any input xx

I should say also:

- I have been pregnant before, so whatever endometriosis exists the embryo did implant, it turned into a later loss but this was related to chromosomes

- I have no symptoms of endometriosis except some IBS like symtoms (but not sure if that is simply IBS)

Thank you to anyone who can help with any knowledge, I feel very conflicted about this and stuck in a hole on what to do.

hi, there is research showing that a particular nutritional supplement reduces small endometriomas. May be worth checking out makingbabies.com and Dian Shepperson Mills at the Endometriosis and Fertility Clinic

Hi,

I had a lap last year as they were concerned the clinic was concerned I had a hydrosalpinx. Turns out i didn't, just stage 4 endo. The recovery both emotional and physical are not worth it in my opinion. Given your aim is to have a baby, i would touch your ovaries. For me actually, my periods got worse as did my hormones. I pray all goes well with you. Im on my last cycle or transfer next month, depending on my hormones!

Hi there! Endemetrioma only grow in a more advanced stage of endometriosis. Unfortunately, this could be actually contributing to the struggles of having a live birth. WHY WHY WHY are the doctors telling you not to have the laparoscopic surgery? If anything, they put the camera through your belly button to assess what is actually happening, since no ultrasound or MRI can detect endo. I would get another opinion, and fast. AND, that endometrioma is going to grow bigger the worse the endo gets. I am so sad that you are being medically misled...the way the rest of us have been too :(
