Severe pain that lasts for about 20 minutes

Hi,

Does anyone else get what I call a "pain attack", where pelvic pain (and it goes down my right leg) builds up to the point where it is so severe that you cannot function in any way and would call an ambulance if you didn't know it would stop, but then it ends after about 15-20 minutes?

Or is it just me?

hi

I have this too but usually a few days into my period which I call my “peak pain”

I have had some instances where it happened outside my period - just randomly gets really bad but then goes away. My gynae told me its just a flare up and one of those things unfortunately

Yes. I have experienced that at certain points in my cycle. Usually a week or less before a period. With time, I learned to squat and ride out the pain, but it has been embarrassing when the pain has struck whilst out and about.

this is not normal , don’t ignore you need to go and see your doctor and ask for a internal scan , I had this and found out I had a cyst that was 10cm by 13cm .

i have endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Don’t ignore your body x

thanks everyone for replying. Jade2006 thats interesting as I used to get this same pain years ago, then I had a massive cyst removed (well it burst and I had to have emergency surgery which was when my endometriosis was diagnosed), I suspect the cyst is back then as the pain radiates from the same side.

NickiLou I've never really acknowledged these episodes, despite having them a lot. When it does happen, my mind goes frantic to assess where I am, how I can get home/or am home and need to sit/be still. And then, just like that, it lifts...and you are left wondering what just happened, but you are grateful that's it!

Hi,

I started to get pain attacks (as I call them too), about 1,5 years ago. They appeared in sneaky ways but developed into something crazy, always in the middle of the night (usually 4 a.m.) Paracetamol was not needed at first as they finished precisely after 15 min or so. This happened for months in the ovaries or bladder or both. Then they started to appear more nights in a row and got more severe over time but ALWAYS occurred between the ovulation and period.

I just went through laparoscopy and am hopeful to see how it will make a difference. A large cyst was removed and lots of endo tissue so it's great.

I guess I learned to live with the pain attacks while waiting for the surgery but the fact is that in my case it was getting worse month by month. I encourage you to seek help for it as it is a sign of something that has to be acknowledged and something is definitely going on.

xx

Yes this has happened to me about 3 times randomly out of blue. So so painful and so unpredictable. The first time after the intensity passed I had a dull ache for days.
