MRI Scan

Hi! I have a pelvic MRI with contrast coming up next week to rule out any DIE (an ultrasound found 3 endometriomas). I was wondering whether the scan will show any patches of endometriosis clearly if I am not on my period?

Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question!

TIA

Deep endo is fibrosis (diseased scar tissue) and isn't really affected by your menstrual cycle. The pelvis might be more inflamed when on your period and some lesions might be more active but any deep endo would show regardless.

Hi Jayli93

Yes an MRI scan with contrast will show DIE. That's how mine was picked up. Ultrasound didn't show anything they kept saying nothing wrong. I had my first one in an emergency without contrast and it showed stage 4. Hope that helps. All the best. 😊
