Hi everyone

I’ve had suspected endo for years now and having my first laparoscopy tomorrow. Im really really scared and panicking that something will go wrong.

I have had two previous surgeries so it’s not like I’m a newbie 😆 But theses previous surgeries will increase the risk of complications.

just looking for a bit of support

Thanks

Hello love, please don't worry. It's normal to be nervous (as you will know!) but your life will be improved on the other side. Plus, you'll be taken good care of. Then you can focus on recovery! I hope all goes well, sending good vibes 💖

Hi Emmynoo

Thanks for sharing your news with us, many of us have been where you are and understand how you're feeling today. Remember that you'll be in safe hands at the hospital and we are all here supporting you 😊

Having a laparoscopy can be really daunting, especially when you've been waiting a long time for a diagnosis. I'd recommend reading Endometriosis UK's information on their website here: endometriosis-uk.org/your-l...

If you'd like to have a chat with someone at any point before or during your recovery, the Helpline is also available: endometriosis-uk.org/helpline. It's run by friendly volunteers who also have endo and know what you're going through.

Hope your surgery goes really smoothly. Hop on here and let us all know! Remember to take a pillow to put on your abdomen for the way home, that really helps 😊 And give your body plenty of time to heal.

Sending positive vibes your way 💛

Claudia

Hi lovely, I had my second lap yesterday to excise the endo and I was also absolutely petrified, but the staff at the hospital were incredible and put me at ease straight away! Just trust in them as much as possible and know you’re in really safe hands. You’ll be sore so get lots of rest (I’m trying but general anaesthetic gives me energy for hours after for some reason!) and just remember, the hospital team are experts for a reason and will look after you 💜

You will be absolutely FINE! If they find any, they will remove it. As someone who had/has stage 4 endo, it is a total lifechanger. Getting the surgery gave me my life back. I may have to have it redone which I am okay with because I know how fantastic the results are. Don't have the mindset of "things can go wrong" as things can ALWAYS gone wrong at any given moment. Put your positive energy out there that you are safe and protected in the hands of professionals that will give you your life back and provide a more manageable and pain-free way of living! YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!!!!!! Please reach out if you need any questions answered!

Thank you so much for responding to my SOS. I’m so grateful that I can speak to people that understand. I’m leaving for the hospital soon and I am absolutely terrified, I had no sleep last night as I just couldn’t switch off the panic. But, I’m at the point now where I just want to get it over with so I can move forward afterwards.

Thank you again for the support x

You will be absolutely fine! YOU ARE STRONG! Do not be afraid. What is scarier is having no option, but the beauty of medicine allows us to have an option to get much needed relief. Here's what to expect:

Random shoulder pain from the gas they fill your tummy up with. I don't get how that works but the gas can cause some sharp sensations if you lay flat. It goes away but can be alarming if you don't know what it is. I wish someone would have told me. Drink a lot of water so you can go pee soon after the surgery. They will try to do a catheter if not so it's best to get it out on your own. Do your best to elevate yourself when you lay down as that helps immensely. When you can, the more you can slowly move around, the more the gas will release from your belly and you'll be more comfortable. Pain meds are great but be sure to take probiotics as they can constipate you. I took Advil and Tylenol and alternated between them. Ask your doc for the best thing for you. BREATHE through it knowing that you will get better. It is a process but an unbelievably amazing one. Within a few days, you will be feeling more like your old self before the endo took over. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU, friend!!!!!

It will all be OK - just hold it together long enough to get yourself to the anaesthetic room and they take the weight off u once you get in there. You'll lie down and they'll chat to you for a bit and it will all be over in a flash. Next thing you know, you're coming round and everyone is saying how well it went. Wishing you all the best - let us know when you're out the other side 💖

Hi Emmynoo, you will be fine. I got so scared before my first lap that I cried but it will all be over before you know it. Once you take the anaesthetic you will be out fr the count until it's all done. You will be surrounded by medical professionals who really know what they are doing and are able to handle anything. You'll probably just feel very sick when you wake up. Can you take someone with you? That might help. It will all be okay.Wishing you a swift proceudre and recovery. Focus on how much better you will feel when it's all done and you are healed. XX

Hi guys! Just an update, I had my lap this morning but wasn’t as straightforward as I had hoped. Surgeon found a small patch of endo but also extensive adhesions on my ovary and bowel. I needed open surgery to separate my small bowel from my abdominal wall, so also had colorectal surgeon operating. I am in a lot of pain but so relieved to finally have answers and to why my body is the way that is.

Well done for being so brave and getting there. You've 100% done the right thing. I'm sorry you're in pain, I hope the medication helps and you can get some sleep tonight. Again, well done and you're now on the journey to improvement 💖

I'm so happy to hear it went well! I had something similar; the scar tissue connected my ovaries, bladder, and rectum together. It was as fun as it sounds. I hope your healing is going well, and you will be feeling better soon!

At least they have found it and got it out once you are healed you will feel so much better, just take it easy though until you are really healed. You are really brave and you have done the right thing. Ask for some pain relief it will really help. Sending a big big hug. XX
