Pain after exercise - endo?

advice wanted - I’ve been experiencing pain during/after intense exercise and spotting for about 2 years now. It’s normally only in the two weeks leading up to my period, and gets worse the closer it gets. It starts about 5-10 minutes in and the pain can be really intense for about 15-20 minutes after, sometimes making me sick. It’s really starting to impact my quality of life. Seen so many doctors and none has answers apart from the pill and possible endo but nothing has come up on scans. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

hI there,

I am so sorry you are going through this. I've been similar since January 2021. But I was told years ago I've got endo with no laparoscopy or ultrasound and put straight on depo. So I don't have a cycle like you have to compare. My cycle was a mess anyway.

I was getting so far into an exercise routine (the worst for pain was a set on sit ups and I turned over to do push ups and bam! The pain was so bad I could breathe or move and then I started bleeding. I started bleeding mid injection, and 9k into my trail run. The pain was so bad I got straight in a river to try and reduce inflammation and heat before creeping home slowly.

The Dr's have been no help. They've sent me in circles and said its normal to bleed on the depo. They've told me it because I had rough sex. They've told me to go on injections for menopause. And they've said they've recommend an mri and laparoscopy to 'burn' the endo. They've done none of that. They don't even want to give me the depo anymore. They want to 'see what happens' and leave me hanging.

I'm amazed you're exercising. I'm so proud of you! I'm scared to go back to gym class as I was in so much pain this last few weeks. I haven't gone back as it's been the end of annjection and the pain has been agony in my lower stomach and between my legs and chest.

hi, at certain points of the month I struggle to excercise as it feels like my lower back or groin will rip. Not sure if it’s because I have a lot of scarring and everything is stuck together.

hey I have endo, polycystic ovaries, undiagnosed leg pain probably from the ovarian cysts. I used to go the the gym 4 times a week for weight training. I was very obsessed but because of endo and my leg pain my doctor told me I can’t do any intensive exercises anymore. So no HIIT and squats using weights. I learnt what exercises triggers pain and I avoid it. I go to the gym but only do less intensive exercises. I can be on a treadmill doing a light jog or doing lower abs exercises and it triggers my hip and leg pain. So what I would advise is find out what exercises triggers the pain and avoid it. Also if you can do physio as I have been on and off physio. Use a tens machine as that helps on the area of pain.
