AMH query?

ok so previously my AMH level was 5.8, in jan 2022 and now I’ve got results from June 2022 and it’s went up to 6.5. Is this normal? I have stage 4 endo for reference and waiting on surgery which is probably going to wipe out my level and make any chance of ivf not possible, but just wondered if it’s normal for it to go up like this? I am 38 also any one know about TFT results? This was 1.26 no idea what this means?

I ad to look that one up, sorry not something I’ve looked into.

There are Endo specialists who are also fertility experts, make sure you ask Gynae everything that gives you the best chance of fertility. Do you have any idea of when surgery will be?

thanks for taking the time to get back to me, the Endo consultants and fertility consultants are not speaking to each other at all and I feel a bit stuck in the middle! I’ve been told surgery should be within 6 months (it’s been a year since a previous unsuccessful surgery due to extent of endo), but you know nhs at the moment, that could be anytime! 😩

Keep pushing, you should definitely be on the more urgent list. Does GP know they aren’t communicating? They can intervene if need be. Potentially you could get a referral to another Endo centre and get someone who knows fertility as well but that’ll put you behind.

If you’re feeling strong enough you can get the communication going. If you can afford it see one of them privately and see what they say. You can easily go through NHS secretaries as well and play mediator, it’s only seeing them privately has an advantage of their absolute undivided attention.

you’ve definitely got this 😀 don’t lose heart now, you’ve got this far 🙂

thanks very much, I’ve been referred to a dedicated endo centre due to extent of endo and an unsuccessful surgery last year, it’s in Liverpool whereas the fertility is through nhs and in Northern Ireland where I live. Anytime I mention either fertility/surgery to one, they say they only deal with one aspect which to me is just completely wierd as surely the two go hand in hand?! I never thought of saying to my GP about it as they have said to ask gynae consultant for all queries as they’ve no idea, but definitely will try to do that! Thank you! Xx

I hope you manage to sort things out so they communicate. There are Endo specialists who do both, probably not many. So sorry it’s complicated for you, don’t forget you can be referred anywhere in the UK. GP’s can do more, mine wrote to Gastro recently.

Keep reminding yourself you deserve the help to have children.

thank you! It’s just such a minefield of trying to navigate the system and advocate for yourself. Thanks for the kind words x

This may not be helpful, but I am somewhat encouraged by your post. My gynae surgeon is also a fertility specialist and my last AMH was 4.3 (I’m 26, so this was a big shock!). Plan is to have surgery in November and then retest, he is hopeful that my AMH results may increase over the next 6 months whilst not on hormonal contraceptives, seeing a nutritionist and, hopefully, a successful surgery. In essence, I understand that they can increase.

hi, I’m glad it has given you some hope! I really hope the number goes up for you, it did make me feel better knowing it went up, my surgeon seems to think after surgery my number will drastically decrease but then I am a lot older than you (38) and it seems to be extremely invasive surgery I am having with bowel surgeon, gynae and just waiting to see if they need a urologist too. Hoping all goes well for you, don’t loose hope xx

How long do you have to wait until your surgery? Is there any chance you can take advantage of the slightly higher AMH levels now?

Hope all goes well with your surgery and best of luck!

do you mean by trying ivf now? Unfortunately I can’t have it as the endo has made it impossible to access my ovaries 😔 thank you xx
