Hi,

I’m suspected of having endo (it was found back in 2016 and burnt off but this happened privately so my GP disputes it and very little was found so that the gynaecologist is sceptical though they said being burnt off means the roots were left so it could’ve grown back).

I’ve had pain in my left buttock and hip since last April, it’s only gotten worse since this coming with bloat, bladder and bowel issues, and nausea. I have what I call flare ups where roughly the same two week period every month it is that much worse.

Now these past few days the pain has travelled right down my thigh to my knee, it’s at the side and back of the thigh and it’s very sharp and sensitive and the past couple of days I’ve vomited. I phoned a GP who says it’s sciatica, a pinched nerve, and advised the cause could be unrelated or it could be the endo and that the shock of the pain has caused the vomiting.

Just wondering if anyone else gets this and if the pain is only going to continue to get worse?

Hi, Im sorry to hear youre struggling with your GP.

I have endo and I also do get sciatica (usually just before my period) I have friends who also get sciatica but dont have endo. The pain from my endometriosis can cause me to be sick. So your GP saying it could be rated or not is correct but I would still keep going back till they do a scan to help identify endo.

Good luck

yes!! Me too!!! I was starting to think ‘what the hell is wrong with my left hip all of a sudden?!’ It really hurts when my endo flares up, especially climbing stairs or bending forwards. But your brain doesn’t connect the two and you start thinking you now have arthritic hips at 40!

Thank you for mentioning this, although I’m of no help, this is a big comfort for those of us who needed to know we weren’t alone in these bizarre symptoms.

When I have flare ups I boil a bag of Black Cohosh tea in water and drink it twice a day until the symptoms go away. When they come back I repeat the process. My sciatica is from fibroids that I haven't had removed. The Cohosh helps with hormonal balance so the fibroid isn't fed and grown. If the fibroid stays small the nerve isn't pinched.

This can be caused by endo and it's quite common but really hard to diagnose and treat. The endo can grow along the sciatic nerve a good gynae will know this it also grows along the uteroscral ligaments and adenomysiois which often occurs alongside endo can cause terrible back pain. I went to 9 different spceialists before i saw one who figured it out.

You need to get a really good scan of your abdomen via MRI or tV ultrasound done by a specialist that will show up exactly where the endo is and you might nedd on on your lower spine too. Th eproblem is on the spine one if you see a spine specialist they won't know what to look for in trems of endo so you will keep getting specialists saying it's fine when you a unable to walk/sleep etc and are in agony.

Get a good MRI on your whole abdominal area and get it done by a specialist sonographer (a normal one won't have the neccessary training to spot endo especially endo outside the pelvis).

I had my endo burned off by a non specialist gynae it didn't help at all and the guy had no idea what he was doing. if you have a recoed of this (operation report etc) your GP has no cause to try to diminish your suffering and pain in this way at all. I would just ask to see a different GP you can see a different one at your surgery.

Also a lot of good scanning places will see your directly if you explain your previous findings and I don't think they will make you get a referrel form your GP but I guess this only if you go privately. The GP has no right to downplay what you have been through and dismiss your pain as a GP they don't have anywhere near the level of qualifications or expertese to judge whether you even have endo let alone how bad it is. He /she sounds like an arrogant gaslighting idiot but sadly that is very often the case.

endo on your uterosacral ligaments can cause sciatic like pain. It’s pain that radiates from your hip into lower back and down your legs. Did you have any notes at all that say where endo was. Often written as us ligaments.

Yes same here too! I went of the pill for a while and during lock down my back starting to hurt. I put that to working from home not moving as much etc.... i saw my chiropractor a lot got better for a little while then the pain came back with a vengeance to the point that my entire right leg got affected and I couldn't walk anymore.

I went back on the pill and the pain eased a bit ... but other problems arrived... i had my periods non stop for 6 months..

Good luck hope the pain, I hope it eases up for you
