Will a hysterectomy help with adhesion pain?

Hi all, I’ve been put on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. I had one tube and ovary removed last year after a large chocolate cyst burst and I’m still struggling with pain. I actually think a lot of my issues might be caused by the adhesions rather than just the endometriosis. Will more surgery help this? I should have asked at my appointment yesterday but my brain just goes blank when I’m in the consultants office! I’m very unsure whether to go down the hysterectomy route… have people found hysterectomys helped? TIA x

I had one due to fibroids, endo on pouch of Douglas, bleeding so heavy so it was a godsend after but it didn’t cure my endo, I have had surgery since to remove it. And each surgery creates adhesions so it’s impossible to know what to do for the best x

Thanks for your reply. It really is impossible to know. I need to ask if they’ll remove the Endo on my bowel etc while they’re in there. It’s useful to know my dithering isn’t just me over thinking it! X

if you had an endometrioma then you likely have deep infiltrating endo and that won’t be helped by a hysterectomy. My general Gynae didn’t realise I had such severe endo when he did my hysterectomy and made my pain so much worse as it got sewn into structures whcih if he’d had referred me onto a bsge specialist centre in the first place hopefully would have been so much better.

Thanks for your reply. Luckily, I am treated at a bsge centre with a specialist consultant. I have adeno too so I guess it might help with that. I need them to confirm if they remove the other patches of Endo while they’re in there.

yes do ensure they are going to excise all endo at same time and if you go for hrt make sure it’s combined. Good luck
