Hello,
I’m 12 weeks in to recovery following a total hysterectomy and deep endometriosis removed from both pelvis walls, the sacral ligament and along my bowel.
Recovery has been good stomach wise however one week after surgery I have a loss of feeling to my right hip to knee (I can’t feel touch) and an awful tight pressure feeling to my right hip, I couldn’t move it properly or put weight on it.
My consultant has advised that she thinks because they took away so much endometriosis from the right pelvis wall the pain is radiating to my hip causing the issues, I’ve also seen another 2 registrars and they have both advised me it’s nerve damage and the fact my legs were in in a position for 5 hours and were moved around abit during surgery so they could removed all the endometriosis, they have advised it could take up to 12 months to get better.
I started weekly physio yesterday and they advised it was the stiffest hip that she’s worked with and it was so painful, they did however teach me how to walk properly with crutches.
I’m struggling to sit for long periods (after 30 minutes) and drive as the sitting position hurts so much.
My husband works over seas continually and has used all his leave ups for the next 6 months due to my hip problem ( he had to stay 5 weeks as I was immobile and have 3 children) and I don’t have much support from my family and today I’ve mentally hit a brick wall with the pain and how frustrating it is being so restrictive and I’m dreading the next 12 months if it continues to be like this, I’ve just had two years of fighting to have my hysterectomy and being in pain everyday so I’m really struggling.
Has anyone else had any issues with their hip following surgery or any advice?
thank you xx
