So much pain and not even my period! :(

I’m in so much pain right now but my period was 2 weeks ago? I have a pain right across my lower abdomen, like a knife is in there and someone is twisting it, have had 2 very painful bowel movements but the pain is still there. It’s worse than labour contractions but at least they came and went during labour, this has been constant for the last hour.

I had an ultrasound scan 4 years ago but couldn’t see anything major but suspected bowel endometriosis. I never took it any further. Does anyone think this sounds familiar?? I’m going to call the surgery on Monday and see how to proceed as I can’t live like this :( Sorry for sounding dramatic x

You ought to call 111. It maybe ovulation or ovulation with complications . Severe pain has reasons. Trust yourself.

Sorry you are experiencing this, the pain can be excruciating. I agree to call 111/ seek medical guidance.

2 weeks after menstruation is usually ovulation. Endo pain is worse for me then since it is oestrogen led and this is peaking then but other things need to be ruled out ( lower right abdomen also appendicitis. Colitis, diverticulitis ,bladder related disease etc etc so needs investigation and pain management).

If they've said bowel endometresiosis 4 years ago did they follow this up/ with gynae/ endometresiosis centre? To have it on the bowel would be moderate to severe stage surely? - did they suggest this?

The past few months I had the most horrific pain as you'd described like being stabbed and was told an ovarian cyst . In the end paid for a private consultation, leasing to laporoscopy and found stage 3-4 endo. I had scarring/ adhesions and the uterus/ ovaries where stuck to the sigmoid colon. When this happens the organs cannot move freely and was causing me the stabbing pain and issues defecating and urinating Also if endo is deep infiltrating within the bowel it can also cause pain/ issues passing. I also had urinary signs where endo was affecting the bladder.

They really need to investigate. Re scan and see if it's progressing / assess the repro tract, colon again and the ovaries for chocolate cysts etc. Also need pain management in the mean time, the pain was excruciating at times.

If you are that painful dont wait for Monday call 111 or try a walk in centre, a&e etc. Tbf the first time I woke up in horrific pain I called 111 who called an ambulance. The paramedics thought kidney stones ( although I was also having urinary issues) thus a&e did a CT just to check nothing else. From there they referred me to gynae the same day as an emergency ( they'd found a cyst so I had the ultrasound after to assess it) this set the ball rolling I guess for more tests. Good luck my dear.

You’re not alone. With my suspected endometriosis I’m in pain literally every day, now constant pain all day every day. Feels like I’m being minced up from the inside with the pain varying in strength, but still the worst on my period. It didn’t start like this; most of the pain was while I was on my period and then like yourself I found myself in more and more pain outside the time of my period until the point I’m at now. I’ve had 4 ultra sounds with nothing showing on any of them. I’m now, after a long time, getting a laparoscopy to determine what is happening to me. To “manage” my pain right now I take tramadol x 2 three times a day, diclofenac x 3 a day and am on the pill but even with these im still in a lot of pain. Keep pushing, no one should be in pain or kept in pain. You’re not being dramatic, it’s a horrible thing to go through. Big love to you

Thank you everyone, it’s good to know I’m not alone but it’s appalling that so many are suffering too.The pain has lessened today but I feel exhausted and teary, probably from lack of sleep. After my scan in 2018, the doctor asked me what I wanted to do now, I asked what my options were but everything was a 12-18 month wait so I just said to forget it because at that time, I was only getting extreme pain just before and during my period which I could manage with pain meds. Now however there isn’t a day without some kind of discomfort. I turned 40 this year so my age probably has something to do with it too.

I’m going to call the GP tomorrow as my smear test is overdue so I’ll arrange that and get an appointment to speak to someone then take it from there. Definitely going to keep tabs on this forum more, it’s really helped ❤️
