I have started experiencing pelvic and back pain back in of beginning May 2022. After 3 visits to the GP, 2 to A&E, 1 private scan, 1 smear test (which were normal) I was referred to GYN in NHS...to find out there was a 2 year waiting list. Decided to see the GYN privately. Had my appointment on the 1st August and was told of a possible diagnosis of endometriosis. I was advised to start mini pill which I have started a couple of days.
At the time i did not know what to ask and I am now faced with all these questions and fears and not know what to do about it. I am in such a state of anxiety and panic because I don't have an official diagnosis and I don't know the extent and severity of it. I am worried that is so bad that is affecting other organs and I am just so confused in what to do about all this. I am in such pain for most of the month..funny enough the only time when I haven't had pain was when I had my period but as soon as the period stopped, the pain started.
I just want to try to offer myself some reassurance and do not think the worse but I cannot help myself.
What should I do next?
Thank you x

Hi I’m quite new here. I’m just at the beginning of my investigations after 3 years of going back and forth to the GP with various symptoms. I have pains every day of my cycle. I completely understand your anxiety as I am the same as I’ve convinced myself it’s the worst possible thing. I’ve also just recently been started on the pill and I’ve also started a gluten free diet to see if that helps with the pains. one thing I do know is my anxiety makes my symptoms a lot worse as well so it’s a viscous circle. I don’t really have any advice sorry as I’m also playing the waiting game too
X its so frustrating. Luckily they tests they have done I assume you had bloods done and the ultrasound was clear so they will be happy that there isnt anything sinister. Now its a waiting gameDid the private gyne you saw work for nhs aswell and put u on a waiting list for a Laparoscopy?
To pay private for a lap you are looking at a couple of thousand....
You can keep calling up and asking gyne for a cancellation.
Its a long road.
Im still waiting for a lap after almost 18months and doesnt look like it will be anytime soon
This page is really useful and helpful lots of advice and support x take care xxxx
Hi . I had the same pelvic pain and wait on NHS .after ultrasound and CT scan at a& e gyn could not see anything. Dismissed me ,sent me home from hospital. At my suspicion and after long research I diagnosed myself with endo. But I had no chance to see a specialist on NHS. So privately the cost of a MRI scan with endometriotic protocol, this is the only MRI that it will show you what is wrong with you,the cost it was about 1,400 pounds . So I took the decission to go abroad,to Bucharest to a private clinic specialist in endo, has the MRI scan and seen a specialist for the price of 350 pounds. Bucharest center of endometriosis, doctor Mitroi. The result of endometriosis and adenomyosis has been found . It is a horrendous illness that is causing a lot of pain .I hope I have helped .
