Recently diagnosed with Endometriosis, PCOS & Hydrosalpinx. I have been TTC for 3 years. Is there any hope?

Hi! I have been TTC for about 3 years now, suffering one miscarriage in 2020 at 9 weeks.

I have had many strange symptoms since I started my period at age 14 but have recently found out I have “pretty severe” (words from my gyno) Endometriosis, PCOS and Hydrosalpinx.

I’ve been referred to a fertility clinic and am awaiting laparoscopic surgery to have a look at, and potentially treat the endo.

Im just feeling a little bit lost at the moment and feel like I need a bit of guidance.

This is a whole new world to me and it’s causing a lot of damage to my mental health knowing that such a hard journey is ahead of me, whilst at the same time having absolutely no clue on how I can help.

Hi there, so sorry to hear what you are going through. I am too in the same journey as you and have all the above you mentioned. I think there is hope out there, for me what worked was some therapy/counseling to take off the edge of the mental load as without a doubt is a mountain of it. accupanture has done wonders for me too. I have been going twice a week for 6 months and my tubes used to be attached to the uterus and all blocked with hydrosplinx and all sort of cyst and 6 months later they have cleared up and they are now accesible for ivf treatment which is great news to me as as I though this will never happen. I am 37 and age is not on my side neither are the AMH levels.

Any surgery impact the egg reserve so bear that in mind on your appt.

Without a single shadow of a doubt is a difficult journey you are on, everyone deserves to be in good health. Look after yourself as you are number one and try yo get some energy back into your body and mind and get plenty of rest if you can.

Sending hugs

Thank you so much for getting back to me. My heart truly goes out to you but it does give me hope knowing that I’m not alone.

It’s been such a struggle finding any help or anyone out there suffering with all of the same conditions.

I have booked myself in for fertility acupuncture in September and will absolutely follow your advice and get it done often. I’m so happy to know that it has worked well for you.

I have only recently been diagnosed after paying for a private scan as the NHS wait list was so long. I’ve since seen a gynaecologist who has now referred me to the fertility specialists and once I’ve seen them (it’s an 8-12 month wait) they will hopefully book me in for laparoscopy surgery.

I completely agree, everyone should be in good health and it’s so awful that women have to go through this.

Thankfully we have forum’s like this to find guidance from others going through the same.

I wish you all the best of luck and strength on your journey Xx

Thank you for the well wishes.it has been a long journey for me too to get where I am. The medical trauma of diagnosis, the shame and guilt that comes with that, the no support of living with a chronic condition like the endo...and the list goes on. There is so much support needed in this journey, sadly we only get the physical part of it ( surgery/hormones etc and when it comes to the mental impact ( which I believe is greater) we are left alone to deal with it. Reach out anytime with any questions you might have and if I have to give one final tip is that all the doctors give you all the textbook info and stats but trust your mind and body and the power that it has to heal itself.

As someone who also has endo, all I can say is it will take some time to come to terms with it and accept it. I found it really hard after being diagnosed. I was also told during my laparoscopy that I couldn’t concieve naturally due to blocked tubes due to endo and am now doing my first round of IVF. I know it’s a terrifying journey but you will get through it and you will come out stronger. Sending you all my love

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having to go through that.

It is such a tough diagnosis and I don’t think it’s one anyone can prepare you for, especially when you’ve been ttc for so long. It’s such a set back.

I’m glad to hear that you’re getting the help you need and wish you all the luck in the world with your first round of IVF. Xx
