Endo period

Hi everybody! I’ve been diagnosed with endo a couple of years ago and it seems to be gradually getting worse. Had a laparoscopy to remove a cyst but surgeon didn’t remove the endo because he hadn’t asked consent for that (they didn’t know I had it before the op)

First question! My cycle is consistently about 25-28 days. I’ve noticed the past couple of months that I’m getting spotting a day or two before my period starts - is this normal for endo? I don’t have spotting any other time during my cycle.

Second question! Sorry if this is too much information but I notice that for the first day or two or my period that the consistency is slimy / mucus-y. I’ve had this before but not as much as now. Is this an endo thing? I’m not on any hormonal treatments or contraception (in a same sex relationship) just wondering if this could be an endo thing?

Any advice or reassurance greatly appreciated, I’ll speak to the doctors if needed but if it’s something endo related it woood be good to know before I go to an appointment. Thanks so much :-)

Hi Illustrator2022,

Thanks for reaching out. I am afraid I am not medically trained and therefore cannot advice regarding your symptoms and the relationship with Endometriosis, however, I can say that people with Endo do experience lots of varying symptoms with regard to their periods, you may find it helpful to have a look at our website - endometriosis-uk.org/endome..., this page has a chart which specifically mentions some of the symptoms you have written about.

I would suggest you go to your GP for further information.

Wishing you well, x
