Hi ladies, I had my first laparoscopic procedure yesterday to remove two endometriomas and excuse some endometriosis from my pelvis and off my bladder too. Basically all I wanted to know is how long did you keep your dressings on for? They were very vague at the hospital and no one really gave me an answer. When I googled it I read something that said you should remove them after 24 hours so that air can get to the wounds. So I would just be grateful for anyones experience with this.

Thanks all 😊

Thanks so much for replying! I have taken one off of my belly button today, just to see what it looked like but still have the others on. How are you feeling now 8 days post op? Hope you’re well xxx

I’ve been ok but last two days I feel like I’ve a problem with my bladder, thought I had urine infection but my dr said I don’t, so just gonna wait few days see how it goes. Hope you have A speedy recovery xxx

Hi, I had mine two weeks ago now and I also felt like I had a urine infection. Difficult actually starting the pee etc especially in the morning. Apparently could be urine retention from the surgery and can take a couple weeks to settle. Mine is starting to improve now after two weeks x

Hi Shelly, I just wondered if your feeling of getting a water infection went? I’m on day 8 and literally exactly the same as you! Had urine retention immediately after op but have been fine and now feeling slight discomfort like the start of a uti. Hoping it’s just consequence of surgery xxx

Hi,

I had mine two weeks ago and waited until day 5, more because I was scared to remove it and wanted my friend who is a nurse to do it. Hope you have a good recovery x

Thanks for your reply. Hope your recovery is also going well. I have taken the sticky dressing things off but not removed the steri strips. I didn’t know if they should be removed or not yet. Xxx

Maybe keep them on for a week? I had disposable stitches but got them taken out about day 10 as they were really itchy xx

Hey! I had mine 2 weeks ago and the post-op aftercare papers stated that they should be removed after 2 days - which is what I did. All the best with your recovery! xx

Thank you! I hope all is going well for you too. I have removed the actual dressings but I still have the steri strip things on, did you remove those after two days too?xxx

Thank you! I had dissolvable stitches so I am not too sure about the steri strips. I would recommend contacting your GP just to be sure xx
