I've been on the mini pill Cerelle for years now and I've been told by my gynae to try the Mirena so I've been booked in to have it next week.
I have a lot of weight issues, it's taken me years to lose 40lbs and I'm very anxious/self concious about weight. I am terrified to try the mirena and am considering backing out after hearing it apparently causes bad weight gain.
It's the same hormone as Cerelle, and I haven't gained weight on that pill - does this mean maybe I'll be fine?

The scientific evidence shows mirena doesn’t cause weight gain. However the hormonal change can cause water retention and bloating. If your current pill isn’t causing that issue then I think it’s safe to guess you will be fine but no one can guarantee that for you, even your GP I’m afraid.
Anecdotally I did not gain weight or have bloating on the mirena but I am a sample of one so that means nothing apart from it is possible.
