I was diagnosed with Endo around 3 years ago via a laparoscopy where they found endo in various places including left ovary which is increasingly immobile. Sadly it was not excision (I had not done enough research when i chose the surgeon).
Anyway, fast forward to today and i'm turning 33 and starting to think of having a family in the coming few years (I know time is ticking).
Am i right in thinking the best course is to do an excision then start trying to get pregnant straight after? I'm no longer covered by private insurance, so what sort of time frame do i need to think about starting the whole process with the NHS? Ideally id like to start trying in summer 2023, so should i get on a waiting list for another surgery now or later? I'm also on the mirena coil which will need to come out I'm guessing a few months before at least.
My symptoms are certainly getting worse again, especially over the past 2 years.
Any help/your stories would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey, what stage did you get diagnosed with? 2 weeks ago I had excision for stage 3 endo plus 3 small chocolate cysts, we have been trying to conceive for two years with no luck at all. I went private in the end as the nhs waiting time was at least 18 months and age is not on my side (I’m 35 in a couple of weeks). I have heard that if you have stage 1 or 2 then getting pregnant may not be such an issue but I’ve also read people with stage 4 getting pregnant really quickly so who knows! Bear in mind also that most nhs surgeons I doubt do excision either as there are not many specialists in the UK.
Thanks Berry_blue that’s really helpful. I don’t remember my surgeon telling me what stage I was - I’ve actually recently contacted him to see if I can get a copy of my notes. But I do remember him saying lots of the tissue was really black and he thought it had been there for 10 years+.
I hope you’re recovering well from your op, and best of luck with your own family plans!
