Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with Endo & PCOS on December 8 during a phone appointment with my gynaecologist. Both myself and my GP have still not received a letter confirming this diagnosis/summarising what was said in the appointment. I’ve rung the hospital countless times since trying to chase it but can never get through to the secretaries. The people in charge of appointments have been great and keep trying to help me but I’m getting nowhere. I’m starting to think I’ve just made the whole thing up 😭 Anyone else experiencing similar issues or have any advice? Thanks so much xx

I suggest following it up via email. If you can’t get an email address for that specific team, send one to their complaints or PALS team… you have been waiting too long 💙

I hope they sort it! It’s awful that they keep us waiting in pain so long - hope you’re doing ok ☺️

Hi there. Do you mean that your gynaecologist diagnosed you with endo over the phone? The only way that endometriosis can be diagnosed is via laparoscopy. In some cases, it can be seen on MRI however this still does not warrant diagnosis, as the tissue needs to be sent for analysis before diagnosis can be confirmed. This is different for PCOS but sorry if I am interpreting it wrong about you speaking only over the phone. If this is the case, then you have not received a diagnosis as you need to be seen in person to discuss having a laparoscopy to receive a diagnosis. I hope this information is helpful and don’t give up. You will need to push. Also, I would not recommend allowing a general Gynae surgeon to perform your first lap, and only an endo surgeon if possible- and excision only, no ablation! Good luck X

Hi, thanks for your reply! I was diagnosed after they found an endometrioma on my right ovary and this was a follow up call to discuss the findings. I’m now waiting for a lap to remove it and look for endo elsewhere. Do you know how to ensure an endo surgeon does my surgery and not a general gynae surgeon? I really am struggling to trust my current gynae after a lot of misinformation and various other administrative failures. Thanks so much xx

I've only ever had a letter sent to me/GP by my consultant following surgery or on discharge - never following an appointment.

If you were told you'd get one then keep chasing - go directly to the consultants secretary and email to follow up any calls you make. If they've promised it to you, it's not fair to keep you waiting.
