Hi everyone, I had the Mirena coil fitted in November to help with my Endo pain and bleeding. They did say it can take 6 months before it starts to work but the pain has worsened and the fatigue is awful! I am struggling on a daily basis and can't decide whether to wait it out as it has only been 3 months or to revisit the doctor. I really don't know what else they could do though other than refer me back to the gynaecologist. It was gradually getting worse before so I'm not saying the coil had made it worse.
Has anyone had the coil fitted and it helped? Did it get worse before it got better? Any help would be great, I am getting so down with feeling so bad. I have always managed to just get on with it but it is getting too much now!
Thank you.

Hi. I have had the mirena for 9 months now. The first 6 months were awful. Lots of bleeding and pain. I asked my gynae about taking it out , which he advised against as it can take 12 months for the benefits to be seen. For me now, after 9 months, my period is lighter but still bleeding for 7-10 days with a week of pain and spotting before the proper period starts. Along with ovulation pain and bleeding. My cycle is shorter now. 28 days, rather than 40. Pain flare ups aren't as severe but still enough to stop me in my tracks and I still struggle with fatigue. I should say that I haven't been diagnosed with endo, I'm on the waiting list for a diagnostic laparoscopy, so my symptoms might not be endo. I'm disappointed that the mirena hasn't been the "life changer" it was promised, but I am seeing some benefits. Wishing you all the best x
