Hi everyone. I had a GP telephone appointment late last year and explained since stopping the pill in January 2020 I seem to have a lot of leg pain which is becoming more and more frequent and after doing some tracking it is linked to ovulation and periods. The GP was really nice but said she was at a loss really because I said my periods weren’t particularly painful or heavy, it’s more just lower back and leg pain. She referred me for an ultrasound scan and said it could be an ovarian cyst however the results have come back clear. This morning the pain was so bad in my leg it was effecting my walking so I have booked another telephone appointment for next week with a new GP as unfortunately due to moving house I have had to change to a new GP surgery. I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips or help as to what I should be pushing for? Obviously I’m aware I will have to go through my symptoms again with the new GP but just don’t want to be fobbed off. If anyone is in a similar situation or has been recently, any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Second appointment : Hi everyone. I had a... - Endometriosis UK
Second appointment
HiHave a look at the Endo UK site, there is info about consultations and a pain diary, etc.
Notes are really important so you don’t forget things. Women have different symptoms, keep in mind what you don’t consider painful or heavy will be different to someone else.
I spent forty years getting on with it which was a mistake. At my first Gynae consultation I asked what’s considered heavy, he said changing pads three times in a day, I used to do that all the time.
Scans aren’t great at showing Endo and does depend on the experience of the radiologist as well, it’s ruled out other things which is great.
Endo symptoms can include groin/leg pain and if it’s only at period or ovulation time they can’t say it’s not connected and needs investigation. MRI would be one to ask for and a referral to a Gynae with interest in Endometriosis. I say ask for, tell the GP what you’d like to happen, less of a chance of no. 😂
Not sure if this helps, let us know how you get on 🙂
