I am 27 and have been dealing with painful period since I was 13/14. I have gone back to the doctor so many times about the pain to be told we can’t do anymore. You’re already on naxproxen and codiene nothing strong we can give you. Lots of doctors have said they think I have endometriosis but no one has done anything to help. I have tried the mini pill and had the mirena coil fitted in January. Since having it fitted though it seems to have got worse. I am in pain nearly all the time. I have pain when I wee, I can’t have sex with my husband ( we only got married in august) and I now can’t even wear tampons without being in pain. I finally had a doctor say we will refer you to a gynaecologist last week but said with Covid and wait times no idea when you will be seen. Has anyone else had their endometriosis made worse with the coil? Or is it a case of it just getting worse? Also has anyone noticed any links between their endometriosis and migraines? Any advice on things I can try to help with the pain?

I have already read up about an anti-inflammatory diet and what vitamins I can take to help.

Hi the only advice I can give is to research your nearest endometriosis specialist. Then pay private for an initial consultation (£150 approx) ask their advice and they will put you back into nhs but under their care which is quicker. Good luck and hope you get sorted soon 🤞 xx

Couldn’t agree more with this advice. It’s so tough getting an appointment through the NHS at the moment due to Covid. I ended up paying for an initial private consultation back in January (at local specialists centre) but it completely changed the game & trajectory of being taken seriously. So saddening to think that this is the case. I was then able to approach NHS specialist centres direct with the diagnostic report & was put on the list for a lap straight away. It took 11 months for me to have surgery - I’m a week post lap - but honestly going private initially was a lifeline. The best £300 I’ve ever spent (ultrasound & consultation costs). Keep going & sending hope. X
