Hi, 3 days ago I was woken up during the night with right sided abdo pain. I went to the toilet as felt my bladder was full and on initial emptying was welcomed by an excruciating pain which slowly eased during emptying..I had no other issues through the day other than this niggling pain during the day. I spoke with gp yesterday who tested my urine and its clear. I'm at the stage the pain is almost always there and if I walk, the more I walk it gradually gets more uncomfortable until I'm struggling..Dr thinks its my endo as I'm ovulating around now but I'm concerned as the pain is just above and right of my navel. Has anyone else had these issues? I've stage 4 endo.

Pain during urination
Hi. I get ovulation endo pains and occasionally after going to the toilet I get a really sharp pain for a few minutes which then subsides. I've always linked it to endo but never had a professional opinion. Similarly had urine samples come back clear so can only imagine it must be linked. Take care.
Hi, sorry to hear you’ve been in so much pain. Hope it’s eased off a bit by now. I am still waiting for confirmation of endo but have near constant pain in kidney areas which flares up with hormones in my cycle, sharp bladder pain with spasms on emptying during my period only, tender flanks both sides worse around period and sometimes pain in I think the same spot you described, which can last minutes, hours or days. I have wondered if that pain is endo on a ureter as I think it lines up. I’ve done a lot of research but there’s very little out there that’s helpful around endo of the urinary system.
You may find it interesting to test your own urine during your period and see if there’s blood in it then (you can buy dipsticks online). You need to clean yourself first and catch urine mid stream to minimise contamination with menstrual blood. Blood in urine during periods is a symptom of bladder/kidney involvement.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. This is a new pain for me, and as a nurse, I thought due to my symptoms it was a uti. The pain radiates down my right side of my abdo and I myself thought it might be an indication of endo on my ureters. Obviously with stage 4 endo its a strong possibility. Today is day 4 of this and I'm hoping it subsides because if it doesn't ill need strong pain meds and that concerns me as a nurse as it affects my concentration at work. I've never had pain so high up that the dr thinks it ovulatory? Possibly referred pain.
Ohh sorry for patronising you about the dipsticks as a nurse! Also sorry to hear it’s still causing you issues. Flare ups with ovulation was actually the first link I was able to make between my kidney/flank pain and endo. I get pain right up inside rib cage at the back, and then tenderness pretty much everywhere between rib cage and hip bones on back and sides. It’s extremely frustrating as GP is very dismissive, but when I’ve been seen through 111 at weekends for pain relief, I’ve had it specifically identified as renal colic, but it’s just ‘wait for your gynaecology referral’ and no concern about potential kidney damage… I’ve done a reasonable amount of research and am anxious about irreparable damage from this just being ignored. Definitely worth following up with your GP/consultant if you have one?
Hi,
No apology required, I certainly did not think you were being patronising..I was just saying that I recognised some of the symptoms from experience. I must admit ,re flare up this is the first time I've experienced this kind of pain localised to that area of my body during ovulation. Its normally more localised in the pelvic area. Also its a little of a dilemma for me just now, my drs and myself are not ignoring that its getting worse but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with trying to conceive naturally (knowing my condition is progressing) they want me to have ivf treatment again(put me on decapeptyl) .having been through it 5 times already with a previous partner the thought terrifies me. Its completely heartbreaking and I'm not sure my partner will cope in many ways but seeing how badly it affects me. This is my last chance before I am 40 years old to have the treatment. You say you done research? Can you tell me, did you find anything related to sciatica or back pain? I've never had soo many issues with both in my life over the last year. Also with stage 4 endo I know that the endo is as far up as my left kidney due to having an adrenal carcinoma removed in 2013. So I suppose it could be the same on my right side. Its really concerning as I know it can get into the lungs etc. Thankyou for your response 😁
Yes there are definitely overlaps with UTI symptoms. IVF sounds so challenging, I’m sorry you’ve had such a difficult journey.
I definitely have read some about endo on the sciatic nerve. If you join the Nancy’s Nook Endometriosis group on Facebook, or look on her website she actually shared something about it quite recently. Let me know if you struggle to find it.
Yes thoracic endo also sounds pretty horrendous! It hard to balance researching enough to help you understand and cope with taking in so many potential possibilities that cause more anxiety.
