Endo Hell… refused by hospital and can’t get in GP.

Hello,

Currently lying here in pain whilst I try to convince A&E to see me who then do the usual and stick me up with a fridge full of opioids and tell me to make an appointment with my GP who has a 3 week waiting list.

Can’t go to work. Can’t get a sick note. Pretty sure most people at work think I’m lying even though I passed out and was physically sick from the pain intolerance.

Loving life. Any suggestions, plans of attack or general rants would be appreciated.

Hi! Sorry to hear your suffering so badly at the moment.

If you're in the UK, you can self certify sick for 7 days, so you wouldn't need to get a sick note for work.

I can't help with the A&E part of your struggle, but hopefully that will help you with going sick from work!

Hey! Thank you so much!

I’ve self certified for 5 already I think. But you know that feeling that you’re being judged as if they don’t believe you.

HiI find the online consultation form on GP website much easier to get a quick response. There is usually different sections and you can ask for a GP to contact you or just request a fit note, or both. I did that last week, the admin one said it would be today they’d get back, way too late for DWP so filled in one for GP and saying their form didn’t work, but reception still nearly screwed it up. If they don’t want me being in touch don’t screw it up, I’ve nearly worded it that way in the past as well 😂

Don’t let receptionist put you off, tell them it won’t wait and you need to speak to a GP urgently even if only a phone call. You have a right to a certain level of service. Also ask GP for a pain clinic referral.

There is a non opiate medication called Nefopam.

A&E always tricky as they are a patch up service. Tell them you want to speak to a gynaecologist, and or someone from the pain team. Gynae easiest bet at this time of night. Don’t forget you do pay towards all this, it’s why they have on call specialists.

The Endo uk site has great info for work, if you have HR speak to them, they need to make reasonable adjustments at times. ACAS can give up to date advice with this just in case any changes with Brexit.

🤞 for you and you get to talk to someone and get help soon. Hope you feel better, let us know how you get on 🙂

Hard I know but try not to worry what people think. The stress won't help you with the pain and they aren't the ones suffering. Hope you can get the hassle of sick note sorted soon xx

My anxiety is through the roof because I feel like I’m being judged

They haven't a clue and it isn't fair. I'm sorry you are so anxious but try to remember you didn't ask for any of this. If you are unwell, you're unwell and you can't go to work. Also as someone else has said, they need to make reasonable adjustments to help you when you do return. Good luck xx

Hi lovely, I'm so sorry you're going through this, I've been in your position too many times.Sometimes in my own experience, being in A&E makes me worse because I get frustrated, I'm more uncomfortable than I would be at home and they don't end up being very helpful anyway!

I find that 111 can be really useful, if you push for it, you can normally get them to get a GP to call you back in a couple of hours who should be able to write you prescription and I think sign you off work as well.

I know it might sound obvious but do make sure you take pain meds, try and stay hydrated and try your best to keep eating even if it's only a bit. I know all too well how being in pain and dehydrated can make your anxiety and mental health so much worse.

Do you have people around you that can help? It's best to not be on your own at this time.

Also, you shouldn't have to wait 3 weeks for a GP appointment, I'd highly recommend looking for a new GP!

I hope you feel better soon and remember you're not alone x
