Nerve Damage - Laproscopy

Hi everyone... hope all doing as well as possibly can.

I had a laproscopy my 2021, to remove endo. Since day one of my op I have had horrendous back/bum pain (think I've mentioned on here before).

I've been having physio as mentioned that have nerve damage and my glutes have gone.

Recently my pain has gotten worse, yesterday I could hardly walk.. and spent the day in bed (Luckily I am on a phase return for work and yesterday was my 'rest day'. I've been to see the doctor today who checked me over and has said definitely nerve damage. Has anyone experienced getting nerve damage from their laproscopy and what they do to help any pain etc? I've been given string pain killers today... so more on top of what I take. I feel so deflated as I've got from a positive laproscopy, to now suffering with this pain daily.

Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. I had a similar problem after a laparoscopy where my legs had very painful pins and needles that made it excruciating to sit down. I never did find painkillers that worked, but I started acupuncture after 3 months of suffering and within 5 treatments, it had meaningfully subsided. It took about a year for it to disappear more fully, although I still have reduced feeling in my thigh. Nerves do heal, but they take a long time.

I tried gabapentin to deal with the pain, and it did not work at all, and even though I only took it for a short time, the withdrawal involved weird suicidal thoughts, so I was glad I knew about that ahead of time. It was so strange.

I had a lot of pain in my hips after my last surgery and the physio also diagnosed weak glutes. I have been doing a programme called p.volve, which has been amazing. It resolved my pain quite quickly and I can feel that it has calmed down the nerve pain and resolved some of the structural issues. I highly recommend it.

Good luck with your healing. It's a lot to have to go through.

Hello.. thank you for your reply 😊 these tablets just make me sleep... not good for I'm the day time working... found myself falling asleep at my desk the other day, gosh thankfully I'm WFH from home, but not ideal at all.

I'll have a look into acupuncture and the programme that you have mentioned... see if they help. Thank you.

I don't know hey... get rid of one pain somewhat, and end up with another! Such a long journey...

I hope that you are well x

It is a long journey, but I've actually had good success after my last lap and although it has been several months of recovery, I'm doing really well. It has been a long road though. Good luck to you!

Sorry I have no experience here, but stay strong and keep your head up, I really hope it eases down, I know the experience of pain almost everyday and we are all strong and have to keep pushing. Best of wishes to you x
