Hi Everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me. I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere with regards to my treatment which I’m very positive about but I’m having the 3 month prostap injection and wondered how anyone was with it? Did it help the pain and bleeding? We’re your side effects bareable? Do you have any tips on coping with chemical menopause side effects?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I had the monthly Prostap injection combined with HRT (Tibilone). It took a good 2-3 months for everything to settle down, but once it was working fully it completely stopped my endo symptoms — pain bleeding etc. So I had a positive experience. At the beginning, pain can get worse before it gets better as your body will work harder to keep the menstrual cycle going before it gives up. I think month 2 was the worst for side effects for me but they were bearable. I was really irritable, angry and had no patience, which is really unlike me. So if you have that side effect, my advice is to ask for understanding and forgiveness from anyone you live with in advance! If you aren’t having HRT with it, you will probably experience more side effects of the menopause than I did.
Thank you for all your feedback. I must admit I hadn’t even thought about the hrt alongside the prostap but I’m thinking it may be the better option because im not great with hormone changes, I get very moody and irritable with slight changes. I’m so glad I’ve asked about it because now I know more about it. Thank you for your reply and hope you’re all better now. X
Hi, I took prostap for 9 months, I started on the 3 monthly prostap injections (with hrt add back) and then moved to the monthly injections (again with hrt) as my surgery kept being delayed. I was fine on it, it helped with my symptoms hugely. I still got the hot flushes and bloating but the pain was non existent and my mood swings were much much better. I almost felt ‘normal’ on it. I did find the monthly injection lasted longer in me. The three monthly one I felt wore off after the second month, so the last few weeks I’d start to feel everything coming back. I didn’t get that with the monthly one. My Endo nurse hadn’t heard that before so maybe that’s just a little quirk in me?! I was scared at first as I’d read all sorts online, but it’s worth trying and if it works for you then that’s what is important. Everyone is different so just do what’s best for you. I hope it helps you too xx
That’s really good to hear thank you for replying. I’m really hopeful that it will help. It hasn’t been mentioned about hrt so I’ll mention that if I struggle with the menopause type side effects. I just want a break from pain and I’m constantly anaemic because of the amount of blood loss so anything that improves that I’m more than ready for. Thanks for getting back to me. I’m glad you got your surgery in the end. X
