Nerve pain and chronic gastric issues - HELP

Hi,

I am 10 days post laparoscopy and actually in more pain than I was before it didn’t solve any of my problems and I am heartbroken. The surgeon removed the areas in my pelvis and ligaments however there is a large deep patch near my rectum that he couldn’t treat so I’ve been referred on. However I can’t take any opioid medication or serotonin drugs or ibuprofen style meds so all I have post op is paracetamol. Which is fine for op pain but the procedure has made my original issues 10x worse and set off all my nerve pain so my guts are burning and violent, my back is destroyed and I’m constantly feeling sick.

Does anyone know any nerve pain meds that could help not gabapentin or pregablin as I’ve tried both and they didn’t help. Also does anyone know of muscle relaxants like diazepam as that helped my gastric spasms but no longer works as my body has built up a tolerance and anti spasmodics do not help and make me feel worse. Even my doctors are stumped not sure what to do luckily my gynaecologist is private so I’ve been seen quickly but my gastro is nhs and i feel so lost and helpless with my gastric side spiralling because it was made worse by the op and morphine administered during :( im really scared please can someone help me. I never had bloody pelvic pain and now I do post op so I just have more pain on top of my gastric issues. Im losing hope and feel so low I want to give up the nerve pain is sending me crazy is traumatised me.

Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Sorry to read this. I had a rough post opp period nearly 3 years ago and a lot of nerve pain.In terms of bowel issues have you tried other anti spasmodic meds? I was always getting given mebeverine by my old GP (totally useless) but found buscopan which is even available over the counter highly effective (I was going more than 10 times a day when I found this). Also an older style drug called spasmonal forte which helps bowel and uterine cramps. My current GP trawled through an old book for ideas for me and came across that one, I found it helpful for the feeling sick. Also ondansetron anti sickness tablets on prescription helped.

I was recommended amitriptyline for nerve pain on here post opp but personally it did nothing for me.

I assume tramadol is out the question for you? It's not technically an opiate I understand but does work in a similar way. That's about the only thing I can manage to take myself but I know it's not for everyone. I also got a tens machine post opp to help distract me from the nerve pain in my leg and back.

I hope some of that was helpful and things calm for you soon.

I'm not exactly sure what your gastric issues are but I have gastroparesis as well as endometriosis and Metoclopramide has been really helpful to me at least. I also use hot wheatbags regularly which help your pelvis to relax a bit.

I hope you can get improvement soon and get past this phase. Good luck xx

I don't take any pain meds as I don't like to feel out of it and I do if I take most of them, I do use a tens machine everyday it is my saviour I got mine from lloyds pharmacy and its the best thing ever as I suffer quite a few chronic pain issues along with nerve pain, endometrios, fibromyalgia, joint hyper mobility, osteoarthritis I won't go on lol. Seriously it really is worth a try I just put the pads on the area which hurts the most and it eases things although I do have it on a high setting I'd much rather the tingle and zap from tens than the burning on fire pain from nerve pain...let me know if you decide to try and if it worked for you 🤞
