You must be allergic ti it.

I get this when I take codeine. I read that some painkillers trigger a histamine response. I normally take a anti histamine and it eases it x

hi hun how's u doing 😜 all codeine based products unfortunately will make u itch, but what's worse is that u scratch the itch and then it moves 😂 although keep an eye on it as excessive Itchyness can be a sign that ur liver is not coping well, so please be aware of this, feel better soon xxxxx

Hi, yes this can be a side effect of opioid medications. I know it can happen with morphine ( codeine is converted to smaller amounts of morphine by the body) and so patients can switch to a different opioid which might help. I'm not sure if you could switch to something else that might suit better? Might be worth checking with your GP? depending on the dose your taking...

Hiya. Yes tramadol makes me itch as well. Take an antihistamine along side it and it should settle it, that’s what I do. Hope it helps. X

Yes, tramadol makes me itch. I take the orodispersible form as they mean I'm much less likely to be sick. I spoke to my doc about the itching and was basically told I needed to choose between itching and agony. I opted for itching. That said, having read other comments here... if a antihistamine can help, give it a go... I'd also mention that drinking plenty of filtered water (2.5 litres a day) can help as it means you're helping your body to flush out the extra toxins. I have found I can live with the itching, but some lotions may be able to help. Aloe vera can be an excellent one for cooling the skin. May be worth a try? I do feel for you not getting sleep! That is so draining on top of not feeling well. I hope you find some answers and help soon that ease these symptoms for you xx

Yes I get that with tramadol or codeine but it usually settles itself so I won't worry about it. But obviously if it's a concern then maybe you should speak to your Dr.
