How to manage the bad days and home working.

Morning people,

I have just had my second dose of Decapeptyl and i'm really struggling today. I just wondered if anyone has any tips about managing pain and remaining functioning. I am lucky enough to continue to work from home, if i was in the office, i would have to go off sick - no doubt about it.

I have pain relief - My GP came up with the idea of a Pain SOS pack which i can order as and when required as i didn't want to take pain meds all the time. So i have meds available, but i cant function on them and do my job.

The bloating is something else, nausea and vomiting and pain is the main issue.

Does anyone have any positional tips - how to sit, lay etc? To make this more bearable. I don't want to go off sick and i'm just so upset that this keeps happening.

Please any help would be much appreciated

Sally x

hi hun how's u doing today, I'm sorry to hear that ur suffering 🙁 unfortunately I feel ur pain I'm on and in agony 😔 I can't work any longer but I find music therapy helps, taking regular breaks, if ur sat at a desk all day I suggest a hot water bottle in ur lower back (if you have two, put a hot water bottle on ur tummy too, it works betta 😂).cbd oil works well (u can buy over counter) devil's claw is a natural anti inflammatory (any health shop) I also smoke cannabis for pain (it's the fastest and most effective pain killer I've used and I don't have any side effects 😁) I hope you find other tips to help, xxxx

I did actually find a really long hot water bottle online which wraps around, i do swear by this but with hot flushes due to the injection it can be a bit too much! Does CBD oil work? Ive been considering using it, but i dont know if its totally effective?

Il have to look into Devils Claw, never heard of that before and id be interested to try it!

Thank you so much xxxx

cbd oil works for the low down cramps but anything sharper it's useless, but to take the edge off it works well, devil's claws like taking Ibuprofen without causing u stomach ulcers 😂 I need to invest in one of those hot water bottles u have 😂 xxxx

These are them on Amazon -

amazon.co.uk/s?k=long+hot+w...

Hope this helps! I may have to try CBD oil to see if it helps, its something i dont really know much about, but anything is better than nothing at this point! Im open to options! Honestly cant thank you enough xx

Hi Sally Sorry to hear you’ve been through this. I no longer work but when I did I also worked at home a lot which helped. When at home I would often need to go to sleep wrapped in hot water bottles and take pain killers. I also took tranexamic and mefanamic acid. If I was out for work I had to use a heat belt wrapped round my abdomen and found that this gave some relief sometimes. I hope you can find something to help you.

Hello, I am lucky to work from home, and i do end up sitting in the fetal position sometimes and ive worked from bed which really isnt ideal but sometimes its the only way i can continue.

At night i do take pain relief, but as i have early mornings i dont sleep them off, and you end up with the horrible hung over feeling throughout the morning.

I just feel like im in a catch 22, im damned if i take the meds, and damned if i dont.

I ued to take Mefanamic acid when i was a teenager, i thought this was just for heavy periods? - Maybe that could be something i could look in to.

I really hope your doing ok, and thank you so much for replying to me xx

Hi The mefanamic is anti inflammatory so may help the pain and the tranexamic I took to reduce the bleeding. Take care it’s tough working with this condition and hope you get support.

There is still such a lack of understanding from employers about the condition and the long list of symptoms that follow it. I will certainly enquire about the Mefanamic acid.

Thank you for replying x

mefanamic acid never slowed my bleeding, I still bleed through a super tampax in half hr n normally through my clothes (maybe that's why I wear so much black 🖤 😂)I have brought a memory foam wedge pillow that work's well in bed and on the sofa 😁

Oh a foam memory cushion, that sounds helpful! I do have restless legs, and painful hips at the moment too, so i think i may have to try that! God yes... i am also a fan of black clothes for that reason too! x

I found I got pain in my lower back and pelvis that eventually spread through my legs, I thought It was probably sciatica? then one night I got up to use the bathroom and my leg's gave way?! 😂 was funny like but it would sometimes happen near the stairs which was a concern tbh, I got myself a new memory foam mattress and that combo of the wedge and mattress made all the difference. the pain in my legs vanished, no more dead leg's 😂 and best of all I could be comfortable for up to an hr before I changed position, on the sofa I struggle to get comfortable for longer than a few minutes 😔🤔 maybe I should get some memory foam cushions cut for the sofa 😂 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 xxx

You do whatever helps you feel better and in less pain! Ive suffered with restless legs and sciatica for a while, but the last laprascopic surgery i had had shown that i had endometriosis on my pelvis, which could explain the nerve pain i guess?

I dont know, everything is so interlinked i dont know what it is anymore!

Haha xx

unfortunately from the research I have done the longer u suffer chronic pain the more damaged ur nerves become to the point of where there's no guarantee of a hysterectomy helping u become pain free (kinda like phantom pain in amputation patients) 😒 the best u may be able to hope for is the pain not to get worse, it seems like a big op for maybe nothing I dunno still trying to wrap my head around it xxx

Sorry to hear your not doing well :( if you can’t work then I would honestly take a sick day or two - it’s not healthy to continue if you’re that bad and I’m sure you’re work will be affected too as it’s so hard to concentrate isn’t it!

Have you started any HRT yet? I found HRT patches were my saviour and really helped me have some type of normality xx

Currently my pain is under control - I am so thankful but I am exhausted 😩 So sharing my story to see if anything sparks ⚡️ in you to try. Everyone is so different and so it’s trial and error and adapting.

So lifestyle changes helped. Endo diet. Exercise (gentle). Managing stress. Mindfulness. Supplements.

Long term solutions as it’s trial and error. And still learning.

I couldn’t of considered antidepressants - but SSRI’s helped and I feel so much better. If you get low in mood, the pain is awful and we tend to spiral downwards.

Sending you love as you figure this out 💕
