My pain has increased a lot whilst using progesterone for 2 weeks now. Does this mean it’s not working and maybe even making my endometriosis worse? I used 200mg for almost 2 weeks and then 100mg the last few days

Does increased pain when using progesterone mean it’s not working?
hi hun how's u doing, sorry to hear that, I have this belief (shared by many Dr's also) that hormonal treatments can cause ur endometriosis to grow and the pain to increase. it's not a random theory of mine 😂 but more from 24yrs of being on every hormonal treatment going and the pain getting worse when on it and it leveling out when I came off it? I won't have hormonal treatments anymore all it did was mess up my body 🙁 if you eva wanna chat plz pm me xxxx
Thank you I really appreciate you replying. So the progesterone made things worse for you too? The specialist didn’t really explain anything much but I thought it was supposed to make it better and the estrogen make it worse? It messes with my mental health badly. I’m at the point of feeling it’s too dangerous to carry on so I think I’m going to have to stop it tonight
I would try to get in touch with your specialist to ask that. Get the secretary to ask them to give you a call if possible.
I’ve been trying to get information through his secretary since I was diagnosed but I don’t get a response and neither has my doctor who has been trying to get hold of him. I guess he must be very busy but It’s making me feel very uneasy
I'm sorry to hear that you're in this kind of pain. Did your specialist increase your level of progesterone to get you onto it? Or start you at 200mg? I have been working up my level over some weeks now to ensure a tolerance in my symptoms, and it's gone broadly very well. My doctor did say that some women can struggle with side-effects if they're thrown straight in at the high dose.
Have your hormone levels been checked at different points in your cycle to ensure you're on the right dose that you need at each point? I have a massive oestrogen dominance and produce hardly any progesterone so my prog medication has been transformative for me, but it needs to be prescribed individually. Do talk to your specialist again.
No I decided to try it myself in the hope it would help the endometriosis so that I might be more like to be able to continue using estrogen (I’m quite unwell without it) and avoid surgery. I was already using 100mg vaginally for a week every 3 months as part of my HRT but struggle even with that. Perhaps if I’d started low and gradually increased it as you suggest I might have been more successful. I was already on HRT before I was diagnosed with endometriosis and it’s prescribed by a different doctor.I’m pleased to hear it’s gone well for you and thank you for your reply I really appreciate it
