Post op 3m follow up and hysterectomy query

Hi all

I have my 3 month post diagnostic laparoscopy/excision follow up appointment with my surgeon on Friday.

The pain has definitely improved, more so that it isn't all the time anymore. I do still experience pain around my period but it isn't prolonged after I've stopped bleeding.

I have said from the beginning that I wanted a hysterectomy (I know it doesn't treat endometriosis) but I wanted it to stop heavy periods. I understand contraceptives can do this BUT with side effects like erratic periods, mood swings, etc etc. I feel a hysterectomy would benefit me hugely without the erratic bleeding being a side effect (the others I could cope with if needed to). I'm also going to sound selfish here, but I can not plan any sort of outing or holidays due to how heavy my periods can be and I just want to live a life where I don't have that to worry about or know where the nearest toilet is.

I'm going to ask my surgeon about his views on this because the bleeding is now the main issue with pain being secondary. He has been amazing from the start and I would want him to do the hysterectomy (but via the NHS - I was on the NHS waiting list for single figure weeks before I had my laparoscopy so they know that I know I won't have to wait months and months!)

Had anyone had success in advocating for a hysterectomy? I am 24yo. I have 2 children and our family is complete. I just want to not have to worry about bleeding anymore because it's getting in the way of EVERYTHING.

Exercise also really helps with my mental health and I can't do that whilst bleeding, so my mental health really takes a battering for that one week I'm menstruating.

Please please don't tell me I'm too young and that BC is the better option, I've heard it over and over and with previous BC experience I know that isn't the best route to go down.

Thank you!!
