So my journey started about 4/5 years ago id constantly be back and forth from doctors with extreme pain during my periods, sickness and headaches, I’d have periods lasting weeks and then away for a few days then back for another week or two, I had upset stomach during my full period and on the lead up and this just kept getting worse. I had also gained a lot of fluid around my legs and nobody knew why - this then resulted in severe leg pain and my lower back being really sore. I was constantly told that there was nothin wrong fast forward until September 2020 I went to private hospital under my work as I just felt so crap about it all and the girl tried to do an internal scan and couldn’t she done it with her fingers and ultra sound and showed that my ovaries where joined on top of each other in the centre of my stomach and this looked like PCOS and possibly endometriosis when I had left I looked into these things and got an understanding of it all and a lot of the symptoms sounded the same. I was told to loose weight and go back when I weighed less. Fast forward to June 2021 I was in severe pain when I stood up or sat down that I thought I was going to faint.. it was found I had a cyst and the surgeon had prescribed me tramadol and dydrohydrocodine or however u spell it.. I then went back and changed my consultant and got taken for my op last week. He removed the implant and inserted the marina coil and he also removed the cysts. He said there was 0 endo and I do not have PCOS. I am so confused by the outcome he said he will follow up in 6 weeks with me but everything went well.. obviously I’m still on high pain meds and the wounds are healing but this kind of shocked me and I wasn’t expecting to be told this so now I’m back to square one with where and how this pain/symptoms happen and why and how to deal with them. He said often people decide to try the coil and then go back for a second opinion..
Please let me know your experiences if similar and what to do
Hi what hospital was this? Was it endo specialist? I too have had every single symptoms of bowel endo went for my op last week too to only find adenomyosis and scar tissue on my bowel very confusing
It was Ross hall hospital (Glasgow) the consultant has been so fab and reassuring. I’m just over emotional and deflated that I thought this was answers to my issues etc how do they detect that? X
Hi I had my hysterectomy at Ross hall with a specialist female in endo who found adenymyosis. I had the mirena and had it removed hoped the hysterectomy would stop continual discharge I had. I’m now having major bowel and bladder issues and going London for more tests on Thursday this week as exhausted tests in Scotland 🏴 😌. Look at a bowel endo specialist with Gynecology experience. You can ask to be referred to a bsge center. I hope you find some answers. Under my bupa policy I’m seeing a clinical pain psychologist who is fantastic at Ross hall if that helps and no it’s not all your head I promise.
Hi lovely I’m so sorry you’ve not got answers and are feeling so deflated 🥺 I went through similar, all the symptoms of endo and had a laparoscopy last year and was told everything all okay. Did you have a general gynaecologist or an endo specialist do you surgery? The reason I ask is because I had a general gynae do mine and I’ve since learnt that they often miss endo as they are not trained properly to always see it. Also your ovaries overlapping / joined sounds to me like endo from what I’ve read. I’m now seeing an endo specialist for a second opinion who thinks it was missed and he’s put me down to re-do the lap himself x
Today has been a total write off to be honest I cried for a good hour, tbh I’m not actually sure but as soon as I started asking questions and next steps he said some people choose to have a second opinion and I came off the phone thinking hmm that’s weird I’m going to write down my questions for my 6 week check up. He did say I should give it some time for the coil to settle and then come back to him. He drained the cyst and said there was no endo. When is your next appt? X
