I wonder if anyone has any thoughts about my query, I am going round in circles trying to find out an answer to this sensitive question.
I am awaiting my excision of severe endometriosis (hurrah!) but I've been nervous to have the vaccine as I am on Decapeptyl and I have heard the vaccine can cause bleeding in women who are in the menopause, and bring on early or heavy periods otherwise.
Therefore, I am concerned that having the vaccine and bringing on bleeding may affect my surgery as surely the decapeptyl was given to prevent bleeding.
Also I am nervous to not have the vaccine as I will be vulnerable to the virus while recovering.
Any thoughts or advice here would be gratefully received.
Hello I am on decepeptyl and have had the vaccine, no symptoms at all. You would be safer to get the vaccine and I am sure if we weren’t meant to get it whilst on this injection then we would have been told. Good luck 😉 x
I had stage 4 endometriosis and was on a drug to induce menopause and had vaccine prior to operation (total hysterectomy incl. removal of ovaries) & then my 2nd vaccine post operation. I had a sore arm that settled with paracetamol and some shivers. For me nothing of concern and feel safer having had it especially before going into hospital. It's understandable you are worried as I was but I met many women on similar drugs to us and they were very reassuring as were the NHS.
I relapsed twice so I had mine at the original gap. However, I was told to have vaccine 14 days after operation as this gives time for drugs etc to settle, and I was told this is standard practice.Where are you based? Do you have a local pharmacy/walk in centre?
Thank you for the information, I’m in South Yorkshire and still have the text from GP to book as it was sent the week of the surgery. I’ll call GP to get it booked in 😊 and confirm all ok to do so.
I was scared and cried at the pharmacy like a big baby but they kept there 30 minutes and gave me tea & biscuits. I feel such an idiot but so glad I did it...if I was close by I would have gone with you for moral support minus tea & biscuits 🤣
I was on prostap (9 months) and I was told to try and have both my vaccines before surgery. As long as there is 7 days from having the vaccine before surgery then you are ok. If it’s under 7 days they may not go forward with the op. The pre op team told me that. I didn’t have any side effects other than a dead arm for a bit. Much better to be protected from covid. Good luck with op 😊xx
