I have noticed that I have a numb patch of skin on the left hand side, in a line between the lefthand and bikini incisions. When I touch it very lightly, I can't feel a thing, but if I stroke it then it sort of burns, and if I press it really hurts Has anyone had anything like this before? It feels like something is wrong. There is a sort of small lump underneath/just above the bikini incision too.
Also, the initial internal pain has faded, but I am getting terrible stabbing pains in my lefthand side (deep inside) at regular intervals now.
Reassurance/advice much needed

I had a numb patch between two incisions after surgery for quite some time and it was very odd to touch and then it slowly went away and I think now it’s normal or nearly as normal. I also pad like a cushion/swelling under my belly button incision which I read is normal as something forms underneath to heal the incision from the inside, it’s also gone now (nearly 2 months after surgery? I am not entirely sure when it went away but definitely not earlier than 5-6 weeks!), so I think this isn’t something you need to worry too much about.
It is hard to say about stabbing pain, from what I understand you should not really be in pain when healing so check it with your hospital / consultant or the gp. It’s ok for you to ask questions to them while you heal. Get it checked and hopefully it’s nothing serious xx
Thanks so much for the reassurance, that's good to hear. I have seen the GP and hospital about the pain, they did some tests - it is possible I have an infection but waiting for test results. Otherwise it's probably adhesions - I have started taking serrapeptase which seems to be helping a bit...Hope you are recovering well from your surgery xx
Hi! Glad to hear you have been seen by a doctor and hope they will get you the test results soon! If that is an infection hopefully a round of antibiotics will help and you will also worry less my knowing what it is 🤗 I would think 2 weeks it too soon for adhesions? But I am no expert in any way at all.
I can reassure you it gets better with time, I am exactly two months after surgery today and my endo symptoms have been significantly reduced and I have improved a lot after the surgery - I can wear things with waist again! .. most days
It’s very likely that the surgeon nicked a nerve during your operation, I’m sure the feeling will come back on the patch on your tummy. I’m just starting to get feeling back in my right thigh after my laparoscopy in February. Nerves only grow about 1mm a day so the healing process is quite long. Also to note, as the nerve grows there are many different sensations from the affected area as it heals.
This sounds quite similar to me, I had my last excision in 2018 and ever since I’ve had a numb patch on my tummy and pain deep in left.
I spoke to consultant about it who was quite dismissive but pain management have confirmed it’s nerve damage unfortunately. He said sometimes this can heal within first 12-18 months but after that period it is permanent.
Best wishes on your recovery, I hope you get some relief from this awful disease xxx
Hi Lily, thanks for your message - it's good to know I'm not alone. How did you get to speak to pain management?I hope your lap gave you some relief, despite the unwanted complications xxx
Thank you, it did help certain factors but also left a whole load more.My endo consultant referred me to pain management, I believe they have a duty to do this if still experiencing pain after surgery.
Thank-you for asking this question as I had endometriosis removed (plus tubes, plus appendix) 3 weeks ago and have been feeling something very similar. I was also starting to worry!
I also have a weird sensation between the bikini and left hand incisions. It's about a palm size area. Feels very odd, hard to describe, a bit numb, a bit 'burny', the whole area sort of aches. It's a bit offputting as the right hand side of my body feels great. It feels generally unpleasant and slightly tender to touch.
Some of my scar areas are a bit lumpy too. Especially on the left hand side, I suspect that some of the internal stiches haven't dissolved as there is a kind of internal dimple almost like the area is being pulled inwards.
Yes, that's exactly how mine feels too! Good to know we are not alone at least I hope you're feeling a bit better now. Let me know if your numbness/strange sensations go away? xx
I will do There are still here presently. The surgeon just said "well it was a big operation" at my follow up, which I take to mean I need to wait and be patient
