I had my lap 8 days ago, and they removed a lot of endo from my uterus, bowel, pouch of douglas, left ureter, DIE on my ligaments, and two cysts from my left ovary. The gas pain was terrible at first but the tummy pain was improving. However, the last 3 days I have got a new kind of pain - intermittent stabbing on the left hand side, particularly when I stand up. I am having to spend most of my time lying down and upped the pain meds again (naproxen and paracetamol, am trying my best to limit the codeine). The pain wakes me up lots in the night too.
I am worried - should I be? The surgeon told me I should be off the meds after a week, though I think it is still early days. I want these to be "normal" healing pains, but am worried there is something wrong (it feels like the cysts have grown back again already!). The pain is really severe when it comes.
Would really appreciate some reassurance... Thanks
EDIT: I have now noticed that I also have a numb patch of skin on the left hand side, in a line between the lefthand and bikini incisions. When I touch it very lightly, I can't feel a thing, but if I stroke it then it sort of burns, and if I press it really hurts Has anyone had anything like this before? It feels like something is wrong.

You’ve been through quite an ordeal, your body has had a lot of pulling and pushing inside. How are the cuts healing? Are you passing stools? Could be constipation if you aren’t and worth speaking to dr about laxatives. It’s common after all that’s happened.
Likely worth generally checking with with GP or consultant anyway just to make sure all is on track
Thanks for your reply The cuts seem to be healing well, though the one on the left and the bikini line one ae quite sore (the latter feels like it has a small lump underneath it). I am on laxatives and regular now, so I don't think it's that. I have now noticed that, as well as the internal stabbing, I have a numb patch of skin on the left hand side, that really hurts when I press on it
I think I will ring up the ward and see if I can speak to my consultant.
They told me to go in for tests and observations, said I might have an infection but still waiting for some test results. Or it could "just" be adhesions... I have started taking serrapeptase which seems to be helping a bit with the pain. Trying to be patient now!
I had my laparoscopy 6 weeks ago and I'm still healing. It's loads better but I'd say it took four weeks. Wind and anything bowel related was really painful and I still think I'm a bit bloated now! It was way worse than they thought it was going to be (consultant initially said I had bad posture but I demanded a lap and after the surgery he said I had 'extensive Endo' - we know our bodies!!). You had a lot done. There's rummaging. There's gas inflating things. Absolutely call the ward you were on (I did!) and/or GP to speak to someone for reassurance. Look after yourself and take it very easy xxx
Thank you so much for the reassurance. You're right, we do know our bodies! I have now noticed that, as well as the internal stabbing, I have a numb patch of skin on the left hand side, that really hurts when I press on it I will ring the ward and my GP I think. I hope you're feeling ok xxx
Thanks for asking! They told me to go in for tests and observations, said I might have an infection but still waiting for some test results. Or it could "just" be adhesions... I have started taking serrapeptase which seems to be helping a bit with the pain. Trying to be patient now, it's reassuring to know that others have felt similar to me but got better xx
