Hello - earlier this year I started the endo diagnosis journey after nearly 20 years of traipsing in and out of the doctors with multiple symptoms. I've been told it's IBS, it's your hormones and you're a woman, it's just one of those things you have to live with. Last year I had enough, I started bleeding during sex, sex started to hurt even more than normal, I was bleeding in between periods and my 'IBS' symptoms were off the chart.
I decided to keep a granular diary and I noticed that my IBS symptoms were only at certain times of the month. So, with notebook in hand I marched into a doctors surgery and demanded to be referred to a gynecologists.
Since then I have had a scan and a MRI and both have come back clear. They have discovered that my uterus is retroverted and I have a fibroid, which they're not concerned about.
I opted to remove my mirena coil in the hope that it was this causing all the issues but I'm still suffering with the bloating, pain in my left hip, lower tummy and bowel, pain when going to the toilet (#2, it feels like piles but it's not).
Has anyone else had the same experience as me? I can remember having extremely painful periods in my teens, blood clots and passing out from the pain but the older I have become they seem to behave themselves. I struggled to get pregnant with my son, it took us nearly two years and I missed carried with my first pregnancy at 13 weeks. My mum also suffered with extremely heavy periods and had a hysterectomy at 33. My symptoms are all over the place and this had left me doubtful about my suspected diagnosis.
I'm now on the waiting list for a laparoscopy to see if I actually do have endometriosis.
