Mirena Coil gone? πŸ˜•

Hi All,

Recently I've experienced a new symptom, after urination and wipe there is blood, can be a lot. Also getting very hot, and actually feel ill pass out. I've got endometriosis, so bleeding after sex, painful tummy etc is normal for me.

I checked the strings on my coil, and I couldn't feel them. After a gp appointment, she has confirmed that the strings can not been seen and there is a lot of blood in the cervix.

She has referred me for an ultra sound. I've called today my gp as I've not had a letter (waiting two weeks) and they have said I could be waiting at least 4 weeks! That's just for the scan!

Surely that's not right?

I know once I have the scan, I will have to wait even longer to have the coil removed (Could need surgery). I don't feel comfortable waiting this long! πŸ˜•

P.s my doctor also denied me a pregnancy test as she believed I couldn't get pregnant (even if it's moved). I'm a very anxious person, so I went to the shop and bought one. It's negative, so I'm reassured but still surely this would be the first thing to check?

Has anyone else experienced the mirena coil move? If so, how was it removed, did you have surgery?

I'm worried it's partially or fully perforated and what damage that can do.

Thanks

I am so sorry that this is truly making you feel anxious. Personally I have no experience of this with the mirena but what you could do is look up the helpline opening times and give them a call. The ladies are so lovely and have a their own stories. They don’t give medical advice as they’re not trained. They always help me.

Hope that helps and they will get you sorted but the waiting is so stressful and for that, I feel for you πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’—πŸ’–πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

I'm an anxious person when you wanna know the answer to something. Even then I may have a small op to have it removed (if it's too far). I'll have to wait even longer.

I'd say the pain is a little stronger than normal, but its the bloating. I actually look pregnant. I know the coil is up somewhere and not were it should be.

Thank you for your message 😘❀ xxxxxx

Hi,

I’ve got a Mirena coil and it’s migrated! I’ve had this one 2yrs now and it was inserted while in surgery in hospital!

I knew I hadn’t expelled it as I’ve done this a couple of times previously. I was sent for an ultrasound but they couldn’t locate it after doing Internally or externally scans with 3 radiographers hunting the Mirena. They sent me for an X-ray next door ward and it was found way lower than it should be. So basically meant I was experiencing extremely heavy long periods like a couple of months at a time. As the hormone wasn’t in the correct place.

I’m currently on a waiting list for removal of this one reinsert in hospital of another Mirena (yup I’m still chasing my end of horrendous periods) while under anaesthetic via ultrasound have some other things going on gyne wise.

Chase up your GP especially if your experiencing ongoing pain.

Good luck πŸ€—

Thank you for sharing. πŸ€—

I certain it's not expelled. I hope when I have the scan it can bee seen straight away, and they're aren't looking with multiple scans. πŸ˜•

I'm 100% not having the mirena back in, we have trust issue now.

I think its a mixture of anxious and knowing ill have to wait for an op (if it has to be removed).

If I don't get anything this week, I will chase them.

I hope all goes well with you ❀ hope you hear something soon

Xxxxxx

Sorry to hear you are going through this, I to suffer from anxiety so can imagine how you feel.I have had 2 mirena coils dispell. I experienced horrendous heavy bleeding. I would push your doctor to get the scan quicker, if it is in somewhere still it needs to be removed. My first coil was never found but I believe it came out with the clots I was experiencing. The 2nd one partially came out and a nurse removed it for me at the doctors. It turned out that I had fibroids and that was pushing the coil out. After 2 years of pushing and asking for the fibroids to be removed they finally did a internal scan & agreed this was causing the issue. I was lucky enough to be able to go private for the operation otherwise it could of been a long wait. Maybe ask about the possibility of you having fibroids as well as endometriosis. Hope you get some answers soon. Sarah x
