Just wanting to know what level of written letter or report you got post lap and diagnosis?
I got a very brief bullet point discharge summary that states endometriosis but not location and severity etc. I was awaiting a report or at least written details but have only got a 4 line letter stating the histology of the cysts and no reference to the endo at all. I really want the details written and just wanting to know where I stand in what I can expect and/or request?
Thanks

Hmm, I think it depends on the hospital and the surgeon.
For all of my laps, two with the same specialist and one with a different one, I didn't have an actual discharge letter, but they did come round and see me a few hours after lap, so we could discuss what they found. They let me know my specialists send a full medical report directly to my GP in a few days, I received a copy home too. When I had a two week follow up with my specialist the results of that / any discussions were also sent as a letter to my GP (with a letter going to me as well).
The letter from my specialist after my operation contained:
What we had agreed and discussed to do for the lap
What he was looking to find during the lap
How I was during the lap, recovery and my stay in hospital
How the lap went including what was found, where, the extent, what he did (biopsies, excision etc).
How everything looks once he'd finished the lap
How long I'm expected to be recovering from my lap
When he'd like to see me again (2 week and 4 months)
Any long term considerations - over the counter medication etc.
Sometimes the notes sent to you are straightforward and a more detailed letter (with the above) sent to your GP. Usually they get that a few days after the op. So maybe wait a week after your op and then contact your GP requesting a copy of the letter for your records. Or you could try contacting your specialists / surgeons secretary and asking for a copy of the letter they've sent to your GP.
Hi, I can relate to that. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2020 by a Gynecologist, after it was found that I had 3 masses in my abdomen. Two biopsies later, the gynae took a look at the slides for the biopsies and diagnosed Endometriosis. I was prescribed Naproxen for the paid and told if I need any more to contact my GP.
However, I recently contacted my GP for more Naproxen and he told me that I don't have Endo as the scan on my Uterus was clear and that Naproxen is not the right treatment. So now, my GP is referring my case to the Board for discussion and I may have to have another scan but if that comes back clear then the likelihood is I don't have Endo. All I want is for the Endo diagnosis to be put on my records and for the Naproxen to be prescribed to help with the discomfort and pain.
Perhaps ask your GP to refer you to a Gynecologists to review your case and possibly a few tests to get a definite diagnosis and ask for a full report to be sent to your GP for their records. I am going to be doing this too, just so that I have it in black and white on my files.
