Pain with Mirena after 3 years

I had the mirena coil fitted at the same time as a hysteroscopy 3 years ago to treat pain and heavy bleeding. After an initial period of 7-8 months settling time, where I had daily spotting, the pain and bleeding settled.

Now, 3 years later the pain is starting to come back, and I have had some odd bleeding. I’m not sure if this is the efficacy of the mirena wearing off, or if I should consult my GP. I am hoping someone can advise me. I’m reluctant to contact my GP during a pandemic because I feel like they have enough to do!

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I had a Mirena fitted last year and all was going well (periods hadn’t stopped) then out of nowhere I had terrible pain, and when I went to my dr it turns out the coil had moved and I had to have it removed. Definitely worth calling your GP, gynae or a sexual health clinic and getting it checked!
