Endometriomas and endometriosis

Hello,

In January I had a ruptured 4cm endometrioma and had to have emergency surgery to treat this. The endometrioma could not be removed completely due to adhesions sticking this to my ovary which meant the only way to remove it completely was to wait for an endo specialist to remove all of my endo as well as the endometrioma.

A couple of days ago I was back in a&e with the worst pain and a scan confirm I have one 4.5cm endometrioma and another one attached to that. The doctor said they did not want to operate due to this affecting my fertility and the best thing to do would to be referred to a specialist and await endometriosis surgery ASAP.

I am just looking for some advice on endometriomas and how they affect fertility and whether I am at risk of them rupturing again before I have my surgery? I still don’t have a date for this.

Hi, I had a 5cm endometrioma removed from inside my left ovary and a 2cm removed from outside of my right ovary. I was so nervous about doing it before IVF incase it negatively affected my fertility, my ovarian reserve actually increased slightly following surgery so I was very pleased. I had a great consultant and surgeon which is very important. I paid for a private consultation, GP referred me and then it cost around £100, consultant did a load of tests then put me on his surgery wait list ...otherwise I would have had to wait a very long time...took 4 months in total. Hope this helps
