Hello everyone,

I don’t know if i reached the right forum..i was about to have embryo transfer this month but to my suprise my endometrioma is now 10cm and hurting a lot .. so the re decided to give me one shot decapeptyl 3mg . Followed by primolut n and to continue estrofem as regular and until next cycle . My question is what will decapeptyl as a single shot do to a 10cm endometrioma.. i felt like it was uselesss to be taken as i tried taking 5 injections deca before when i had an 8cm one and it didnt even dissolve a bit . Can anyone share if you got any experience with endo and ivf procedure . Will it benefit me this injection and is it better to wait till next cycle like my RE said ? And is it true the presencenof an endometrioma doesnt directly affect ivf success because we are bypssing everything

Hey. I can’t comment on the first half of the question. But the research suggests that the outcomes for IVF are similar between women with endometriomas and those without. Endometriomas are thought to reduce ovarian reserve meaning you have fewer eggs and potentially the quality of those eggs are reduced. But seeing as you already have the embryo this shouldn’t be an issue. All the best with IVF. Obviously it’s not always 100% successful but I’m praying you’re one of the lucky ones.

Hi sorry to hear they postponed your embryo transfer, I hope the next try goes well

I’ve recently undergone embryo transfer & I have endometriosis with an endometrioma present the size was around 6cm at the time of the procedure , they got the embryo in under sedation although slightly tricky they managed it in the end , I am now 7 & half weeks pregnant, I recently had a scan & the cyst is still there but they said it won’t affect the pregnancy & may even reduce in size

I’m not sure if the decapeptyl injection you had will shrink to the cyst but it will stop it growing further , as you have mentioned you’ve been on them before & hadn’t made any difference, I was put on prostap injections for 3 months before my ivf treatment to try to reduce the endometrioma but it didn’t do anything, I think it’s just something the clinics have to try before they go ahead.

A few years ago I had to have a laparoscopic surgery to remove a 10cm endometrioma ( this was before I was diagnosed) but it returned not long after.

Wish you all the best for the future x

Hi there :) thank u for ur kind response . I figured deca wont do anything but my RE said it will calm my endo down a little before transfer cz I've been having the worst pain ever these days . I already did 2 cycles as per the last 2 clinics the embryos were top quality they were both fresh day 3 transfers and both negative . This RE performed laparo to check for hydro salpinx and i was clear so i cannot figure out if the embryos are good and no hydro what could be the reason .. i am researching uterine receptivity issues or progesterone levels not being measured properly before transfer ... hoping this one ( frozen transfer ) would be the one for me and i am also taking aspirin 81mg to increase my chances

Yes Well hopefully your endo pain & inflammation will calm down after this & whilst you wait I’m sure that will help , it’s very good that your embryos have been top quality as you know the main issue with having endometriosis & undergoing ivf is the quality & quantity of eggs they can retrieve, yes it maybe a progesterone issue & with having a fet this will give your body a chance to recover & you’ll be put on progesterone before having the procedure

Hopefully this will be the one X
