A comfy dress is heavenly after laparoscopy!

Hi,

I'm in week three after a diagnostic laparoscopy, wash-out, and removal of some adhesions for endo. Healing takes time, and I've been feeling cranky, slow and sore.

Yesterday, I saw a suggestion to have comfortable clothing to wear after a laparoscopy, so I ordered a sundress online. A comfy, floaty, cotton sundress, in a cut that's reminiscent of the empire waist style - except it has space for movement everywhere. It came in the post today!

I felt like such a little girl opening it up, seeing the bright colours and soft fabric and trying it on in front of the mirror to swish around the skirt. And, low and behold, the pain from having a waist band around my middle immediately lifted away. Ahhh... sweet, sweet freedom. It doesn't take away all of the discomfort, but I'll gladly take the percentage reduction. ;)

I was idly wondering before if I was becoming depressed from the Mirena & mini pill. Nope. Clearly, if I'm so enthused about a dress, I'm not depressed. I was just sore, trying to rest to heal, and oblivious to how much a waist band was hurting.

So, there's my note of good cheer for my new pen-pals who use this site. A comfortable dress is great after a laparoscopy. I have a feeling I may be the last person to figure this out.

Do other people have a little closet section of lose clothing? I think a lot of us have had more than one surgery and often have another one being planned in the future.

I liked your post 💗yeah I wear a loose dress, it lets it all hang out and doesn’t cling to anything. It’s wonderful isn’t it xx

Yes there are a lot of clothes in my closet devoted to 'bloat' and 'recovery.' It's so important to have a few things that are comfortable and you feel cute in! Maternity leggings can also be good to avoid squeezing, and I'm a fan of the maternity cable knit tights from Next as well. xx

Hi Wanwood, Maternity leggings?! You're brilliant! I never thought of that! Thank you so much for the tip.

I've been looking longingly at some knit shift dresses, but they usually only go down to the knees, and I didn't want to get cold ankles. Leggings would do the trick. :)
