Trying to conceive but now have irregular cycle and possibly not ovulating 5 months after surgery

Hi,

I am currently trying to conceive my second child following laparoscopic surgery at the end of Oct. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and had a large cyst on my left ovary removed. I still have endometriosis fusing my bowel to my womb and also some still in the vaginal wall but everything else was cleared out. I have been tracking my cycle for over a year and it’s always been regular give or take a few days even when the endometriosis was bad. My periods have slowly been getting less painful, but this month it seems to have disappeared altogether. I am so worried that I am now not ovulating. I have been doing ovulation testing which showed that I wasn’t ovulating this month. I am also concerned that the test might not be accurate because of hormones produced by endometriosis. I have also recently changed my diet, so I wondered if this might have affected things too. I am going to contact my dr next week - but I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar, possibly linked to diet change or a change in cycle after surgery?

Thanks!

Hi oh I’m sorry to read this, it must be so frustrating for you.Personally my experience was the opposite and after surgery my ovulation has become more regular and more “normal”

I hope you had some positive news from your GP, wishing you all the best

Thank you for your response :) I am going to be having some bloods and swabs done to see what’s going on, and then a possible referral to the fertility clinic. I’m hoping my periods come back soon, which is something I never thought I would wish for!! The best of luck to you with everything too x

Hi.. I think surgery and diet changes is probably part of it. Can I recommend you read Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden. It talks about all you have mentioned and tips on how to treat/help yourself. Don’t give up hope, try to be positive as stress also plays a big part in hormones & ovulation. Best wishes xx

Oh and I had surgery November 2020 and my cycles have been out of whack too. Not sure I’m ovulating either but this book is helping me understand my body better. 😊

Heya and thank you so much for your response. I’m going to get a copy of the book that you’ve recommended, it sounds like it will help me understand much better and hopefully help with the stress too. I’ve been recommended some reflexology by a family friend that had endo so I might give that a go as well. I wish you all the best too and hope you are recovering ok from your op xx
