I posted on here a few weeks back worrying about possible endometriosis symptoms and after everyone’s really helpful advice got a doctors appointment which then lead on to an internal ultrasound.
I had my doctors appointment today for an ultrasound follow up and she said everything seems ok but to control my heavy periods and severe pains she wants to fit a mirena coil which I’ve agreed to.
I didn’t want to go on any contraceptive pill because I’ve had really bad experiences with them in the past but now I’m nervous about having the coil too.
Has anyone got any experience with having a mirena coil/having one fitted?
Any advice or insights would really help!

Hi Rgs97,It's been a couple of weeks since you posted, so you may already have decided what you'd like to do.
I have the Mirena IUS. I had it inserted while I was in for a diagnostic laparoscopy under general anesthetic. I don't feel it in place, so it's comfortable. A few years ago, I had a copper coil, and I found it mildly uncomfortable. Out of the two, I prefer the Mirena.
