Is anyone finding that your bowel movements are effected with endo? I am constipated for close to 2 weeks or have diarrhoea, no in between and really painful going to the loo as well. I also have IBS like symptoms. I will have my lap at the end of Feb so I'll find out more where the endo is etc but just wondered if anyone was in the same situation as me.
Thanks x

Hi! My bowels are really effected, during my period going to the toilet is really painful and on normal times I’m the same either or all nothing. My doctor has said to me that she believes endo may be on my bowel and will need an mri to get that assessed but I’m still waiting my appointment. I would say possibly this could be why you are having problems as well? X
I have been known to faint during a bowel movement when I’m on my period and find myself flat out on the bathroom floor. So upsetting. But the pain is so bad, my body can’t cope and goes into shock, then dizziness, horrendous cramping like the devils taken over my pelvis, then the upset of waking up and coming round. Normally lasts about 20 minutes (I can’t move or talk I’m in so much pain) and it doesn’t happen every month which throws me as I don’t understand why....Endo on your bowels, however small the lesions are can be absolutely horrendous.
On the week of my period I get constipated - I had a lap to diagnose endo and they found it mainly on the pouch of Douglas. Before the lap I was worried it would be on my bowel or have more serious implications like needing a bowel specialist but it wasn’t the case. It seems affecting bowel movements is quite common. I’m on the pill to manage symptoms and that helps with pain. I find eating prunes for breakfast the week really helps me. Hope your lap goes well! I was a little worried but was amazed at how simple and smoothly it went x
I have to use laxatives all the time still. It’s not good for your insides if you don’t go regularly. There are natural things such as senna or prunes, I eat those as well.
It’s one of the reasons that drs concentrate on this rather than gynae issues straight away.
Yes. I have looser bm during my period which is also when my endo pain is greatest. I was diagnosed 7 years ago via lap with stage 4. It hadn’t entered my bowel or bladder. But my gyne told me that higher amounts of the hormone progesterone tends to relax the bowel and my hormones are out of whack from endo. So my take away is that even if endo isn’t in your bowel it can still have that effect due to imbalance of hormones. I try to help myself by better diet especially around that time of month.
